청소년의 종교 기관 출석 빈도, 공동체 의식, 사회·정서적 적응과 삶의 만족도 간의 구조적 관계

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 종교 기관 출석 빈도, 공동체 의식(봉사·참여의식, 다문화 수용), 사회·정서적 적응(학교 적응, 정서 문제), 삶의 만족도의 수준과 변인 간 관계에서 종교 유형에 따른 차이가 존재하는지를 살펴보고 이에 기초하여 기독교교육에 대한 함의를 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 한국청소년정책연구원의 아동·청소년패널데이터 중 초등학교 4학년 코호트의 중학교 2학년 자료를 다변량분석과 구조방정식모형을 사용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 종교 기관 출석 빈도와 봉사·참여의식에서 종교 유형 간 유의한 차이가 확인되었다. 구체적으로 기독 청소년들의 교회 출석 빈도는 타종교 청소년들의 종교 기관 출석 빈도보다 높게 나타났다. 또한, 기독 청소년과 타종교 청소년들은 무교 청소년보다 봉사·참여의식이 높은 것으로 나타났으나, 기독 청소년과 타종교 청소년 간의 차이는 유의하지 않았다. 둘째, 타종교 청소년에 비하여 기독 청소년들은 교회 출석 빈도가 높을수록 정서 문제 경험이 적었다. 셋째, 정서 문제는 삶의 만족도에 부적인 영향을 주었는데 이는 기독 청소년보다 타종교 청소년에게 더욱 크게 나타났다. 마지막으로, 봉사·참여의식은 학교 적응과 삶의 만족도에 정적인 영향을 주었으며, 정서 문제에는 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 봉사·참여의식이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 정적인 영향은 타종교 청소년보다 기독 청소년에게 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 공동체 의식을 중심으로 한 기독교적 인성교육에 대하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between religious activities, community spirit (volunteering cooperation, mul-ticultural acceptability), social‐emotional adaptation (school adapta-tion, emotional issue) and life satisfaction. For the purposes of this study, data from the Korean National Youth Policy Institute’s longi-tudinal study were analyzed by MANOVA and SEM. The results are as follows: firstly, there were differences in the frequency of attendance to church or temple and the level of volunteering· cooperation as a function of religion. Christian adolescents went to church more fre-quently than adolescents from other religions who visit temples. Furthermore, both Christian adolescents and adolescents of other reli-gions showed higher volunteering cooperation than adolescents hav-ing no religion. Second, compared to adolescents of other religions, for Christian adolescents, the frequency of church attendance dis-played an inverse relationship with emotional issues by indicating that as frequency of church attendance rose, they experienced less emotional problems. Third, various emotional issues affected the life satisfaction of adolescents with other religions more than that of Christian adolescents. Lastly, community spirit positively affected school adaptation and life satisfaction while lowering incidence and severity of emotional issues for both Christian adolescents and adoles-cents from other religions. More particularly, volunteering· coopera-tion positively affected the life satisfaction of Christian adolescents more than those of other religions.
