국문 초록

본 논문은 통일이란 단순한 체제간의 통합을 넘어 하나의 사회통합을 의미한다는 전제에서 출발한다. 통일 후 20년이 지난 독일의 경우에도, 그 성공여부에 대하여 아직도논란이 있다는 사실은 통일이 단순한 체제간의 통합 이상의 의미가 있음을 말해주기때문이다. 사회통합에 대한 중요성은 이미 기존의 연구에서 많이 지적되어 온 것이 사실이지만, 문제는 사회통합이라는 것이 과연 무엇인지, 그리고 어떻게 통합을 이루어야하는지에 대한 구체적 분석과 대안 제시는 미흡하다는데 있다. 본 논문은 하버마스의이론으로 사회 통합을 설명하고자 하는데, 그 이유는 다른 이론들과는 달리 사회통합을가치, 규범 그리고 그 사회의 지배적 사상 부분의 통합과, 시장과 국가라는 체계간의통합이라는 두 가지 종류로 구분하고, 이의 연관성속에서 사회통합을 설명하고 있어,물질과 비물질 어느 한쪽에 치우치지 않는 접근을 하고 있기 때문이다. 이런 이유로본 논문은 하버마스의 후기 자본주의 이론을 중심으로 통일 이후 독일의 사회통합 문제를 접근하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This paper starts by defining unification as not only meaning just simple unification of governments but social integration. In the case of Germany now 20 years since unification, there are still debates on whether unification succeeded, showing that unification is not just the integration of systems but goes beyond that. The importance of social integration has already been pointed out by existing papers but specific analysis and presentation of measures on how integration should take place and what social integration really is, is far lacking. This study attempts to explain social integration using Habermas’ theory because unlike other theories it defines social integration by dividing it into integration of the values, norms and the dominating ideology of a society and integration of markets and systems. It explains social integration by linking the two and approaches the problem without leaning on either the physical or non physical. As such, this paper attempts to explain the social integration problem of Germany based on the later capitalism theory of Habermas.
