독립형 인터넷신문에 나타난 장애인 관련 기사 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 독립형 인터넷신문의 장애인 관련 기사의 외형적 보도경향(보도량, 유형, 크기)과 내용적인 보도경향(주제, 장애유형, 장애인 관련 차별적 용어)을 분석함으로써 장애인 관련 기사가 장애인 인권 실현과 장애인에 대한 이미지 형성에 어떤 역할을 수행하고 있는지 확인해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2007년 1월 1일부터 2008년 12월 31일까지 오마이뉴스와 데일리안의 기사를 한국언론재단의 전문데이터베이스와 데일리안 사이트를 이용하여자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 얻은 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 외형적인 보도경향을 분석한 결과, 신문에 보도된 장애인 관련 기사 수는 전년도 대비 증가하였다. 신문의 기사 유형은 뉴스, 해설, 칼럼 순으로 많았고 사설 기사는 1건도 없었다. 기사의 크기 분석에서는 오마이뉴스의경우 1000자 이상의 기사가 대부분이었으나, 데일리안의 경우는 1000자 이내의 기사가 대부분을 차지하고 있어 두 신문 간에 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 내용적인 보도경향을 분석한 결과, 기사의 주제는 문화ㆍ행사에 관한 것이 가장 많았고 다음으로는 정책ㆍ행정, 인권ㆍ권리, 인식ㆍ계몽, 시설ㆍ공학이 비슷한 비중을 차지하고 있었다. 기사의 장애유형은 장애일반에 관한 것이 가장 많았다. 개별 장애로는 정신적장애보다는 신체적 장애에 관한 기사가 많았으며, 신체적 장애 중에서는 외부 신체기능 장애에 집중되어 있었다. 기사의 장애인 관련 차별적 용어로는 ‘장애자’, ‘정상인’에 집중되어 있었고, 오마이뉴스의 경우에는 이 외에도 다양한 차별적 용어가 사용되고 있었다.

영문 초록

The main point of this study is the role of internet newspapers for image building and protection of people with disabilities. For the purpose, this study analyzed on the external trends (volume, size and types of the articles) and internal styles (subject, disability types and inappropriate notation) of internet newspapers report. A total of 1,090 articles about people with disabilities were selected from the independent internet newspapers from 2007 to 2008. The frequency and percentile as the statistical methodology are used for interpretation of the results. The result could be summarized in six parts. First, the number of articles increased gradually. It was mostly concentrated in April, but evenly distributed as same weight as April from September to December. Second, the most common type of articles was news. DAYLIAN focused on the news more than OMYNEWS. Third, with the analysis of the article size, there were difference between OMYNEWS and DAYLIAN. In the case of OMYNEWS, most articles were more than 1000 word count. In the case of DAYLIAN, however, most articles were less than 1000 word. Forth, articles were classified mostly as culture, event,recognition, policy and administration. The subjects like medical treatment,rehabilitation, employment, education were not emphasized. Fifth, most articles were focused on the types of disabilities with the general approach including more than two types of disability. Sixth, the notational discrimination about people with disabilities were widely used.
