운동학의 출현과 그 의의

국문 초록

[서론] 이 논의의 목적은 운동학회의 창립으로 구체화하기 시작한 학문적 대안으로서 ‘운동학’이 갖는 의미를 확인하는 것이었다. [방법] 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 첫째, 과거 체육의 학문화 과정상 제기되었던 문제를 짚어보고, 둘째, 체육의 학문화와 체육현장의 관계를 문제의 시각에서 살펴본 후, 이를 바탕으로 운동교육의 실용학문적 대안으로서 ‘운동학’의 위상이 갖는 의의를 제시하였다. [결과] 지난 반세기 미국과 한국에서 일어난 체육의 급진적 학문화 흐름에서 긍정적인 부분과 부정적인 부분이 같이 노출되었다. 무엇보다 학문화로 인한 현장과의 괴리가 피할 수 없는 문제로 나타났다. 미국의 경우, 이러한 문제의 극복을 위해 학문화를 주도하던 미국체육학회(AAHPERD)가 학문적 초점의 문제는 전국운동학회(NAK)로 넘기고 그 실용적 기반에 초점을 맞추어 학회를 발전시켜왔다. 그 결과 하위분과에 5개 현장협회와 하나의 리서치 컨소시엄이 형성되었고 NAK는 운동학(Kinesiology)에 초점을 맞추어 분과학문을 편성하고 있다. 이와는 대조적으로 한국체육학회는 미국의 NAK와 유사하게 학문중심의 분과학회를 구성하고 있지만, 학회와 현장과의 괴리를 해소하지 못하고 있다. [결론] 본 연구에서는 북미의 운동학과 같이 운동에 학문의 초점을 두고 형성된 한국에서의 운동학은 캐나다의 경우와 유사하게 건강의 한 분야를 책임지는 실용 학문적 기반이 되어 운동교육 분야 전반의 발전에 이바지해야 함을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

[INTRODUCTION] The purpose of this discussion was to find the practical significance of Kinesiology as an academic alternative of Physical Education with recent establishment of Korean Academy of Kinesiology. [METHOD] The discussion was threefolded as follows: 1) to point out the problems of dis-ciplinary movements of physical education in the past, 2) to review critically the problematic relationship between academicians and professionals, and 3) to suggest the practical significance of Kinesiology in the academic community of physical education. [RESULT] During the last half century the United States and Korea witnessed pros and cons in the radical disciplinary move-ments of physical education. Especially the gap between academic community and physical education fields was an inevitable problem. In the United States, American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance(AAPERD) developed it-self focusing on the practical base rather than the academic, delivering their original foci on academic disciplinary movements to American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education. As a result, AAHPERD was composed with 5 sub-field associa-tions of physical education and an integrative research consortium, while AAKPE(NAK) had 13 academic sub-disciplines. In contrast, KAHPERD stuck to the original focus on the academic expansion of physical education, currently maintaining 15 aca-demic sub-fields similarly to NAK. The practical demands in the field of physical education could be rarely satisfied under the circumstance. [CONCLUSION] This study suggested that Kinesiology in Korea whose academic focus is exercise (or human movement) should be regarded as a practical discipline making the regulated health professionals as in Canada.
