국립공원에 서식하는 바닷새에 대한 인간의 영향

국문 초록

우리나라에는 태안해안, 한려해상, 변산반도, 다도해해상 등 총 4개의 해상·해안국립공원이 있다. 인간과 바닷새는 공간과 자원을 공유하여 인간에 의한 영향을 쉽게 받을 수 있다. 바닷새가 입는 피해의 원인으로는 주로 해양쓰레기, 혼획, 기름오염 등이 있다. 본 연구는 상·해안국립공원을 포함한 도서지역 바닷새를 대상으로 인간에 의한 바닷새 피해 사례와 이에 대한 보호·관리방안을 모색해보고자 수행되었다. 조사 지역은 한려해상국립공원 홍도, 다도해해상국립공원 칠발도와 흑산도이며 번식기와 월동기 동안 바닷새의 피해 사례 및 유형을 조사하였다. 또한 문헌 조사를 통하여 국내 바닷새 피해 사례와 국외의 피해 저감 방안 등을 조사하였다. 조사결과 바닷새는 주로 해양쓰레기에 의한 얽힘(낚싯줄, 낚시 바늘, 각종 끈 및 나일론망 등)과 기름 오염에 의한 피해를 입었다. 한려 해상국립공원 홍도에서 번식하는 괭이갈매기(Larus crassirostris)의 경우 레저용 낚싯줄에 얽혀 다리 일부가 절단되는 경우가 많았고 낚싯바늘을 삼켜 사망한 경우도 확인되었다. 칠발도에 번식하는 바다제비(Oceanodroma monorhis)와 바다쇠오리(Synthliboramphus antiquus)는 끈과 나일론망 등에 의해 얽혀 둥지에서 나오지 못한 채로 발견되거나 사망한 개체가 확인되었다. 기름오염은 주로 월동하는 아비류, 갈매기류, 바다쇠오리 등의 바닷새에서 관찰되었다. 국외의 경우, 레저 낚시의 피해를 줄이기 위해 쓰레기통을 설치하거나 낚시방법을 개선하는 등의 노력을 하고 있었다. 국립공원에서도 이런 노력들과 더불어 바닷새에 대한 사람의 피해를 줄이기 위해서는 대중 교육과 지역 주민과의 협조가 무엇보다 중요할 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

There are four marine and costal national parks such as Taeanhaean, Hallyeohaesan, Byeonsanbando and Dadohaehaesang in South Korea. Seabirds are easily affected by human activities because they share the space and resources with human beings. Main human negative impact on seabirds are caused by marine debris, bycatch and oil pollution. We collected the cases of human negative impacts and discussed the methods to mitigate the impacts on seabirds through the survey and reviews of previous researches. This study has been carried out in Hongdo of Hallaehaesang, Chilbaldo and Heuksando of Dadohaesang during the breeding and wintering season. Seabirds were mainly affected by entanglement with fishing hooks, lines, rope and nylon net and the oil spill. In Black-tailed gulls (Larus crassirostris), some of them lost their feet and got injured by discarded fishing hooks and lines on Hongdo. Swinhoe’s storm petrels (Oceanodroma monorhis) and Ancient murrelets (Synthliboramphus antiquus) were trapped by discard ropes to die in their burrows. Oil polluted divers, gulls and murrelets were observed near the coast during the winter. In outside of Korea, people make an effort to reduce the impact of recreational fishing through providing the bins for collecting fishing hooks and lines and developing fishing methods. In addition, the most important actions may be public education and cooperation with local people in Korea.
