기숙형 국제중학교 학생 적응을 위한 교사 경험에 대한 내러티브 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 기숙형 국제중학교라는 ‘공간’에서 교사들이 학생 적응을 돕는 과정에서의 경험이 가지는 교육적 의미를 내러티브 연구로 탐구하고자 한다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기숙형 국제중학교는 ‘나’와 ‘너’가 모여 ‘우리’가 살고 있는 작은 사회였다. 둘째, 기숙형 국제중학교에서 교사들은 정체성 혼란을 경험하였다. 셋째, 학생들이 기숙형 국제중학교 생활에 적응하며 성장하는 동안 동시에 교사들 자신 또한 성장하고 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 중학생들의 학교적응과정에 있어서 기숙형 국제중학교는 실제로 공동체 의식, 이타적 품성, 그리고 국제적 역량을 함양할 수 있는 곳이고 무엇보다도 teaching뿐만 아니라 교사들의 다방면의 전문성이 요구되는 곳임을 보여준다. 기숙형 국제중학교 교사들의 현장에서의 경험을 통해 향후 국제중학교 운영방향 및 정책결정에 시사점을 제공하는데 일조하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to explore what the field experiences of the teachers have meant in the educational context while helping students adjust to the place of the school. A narrative interview was conducted and transcription was analyzed. The findings are as follows. First, at an international school with a dormitory, it was another form of society. Second, teachers experienced identity conflict, filled the vacancy of the parents, relieving the anxiety of the students and parents. Third, while going through the stage of adjustment and improvement, students and teachers, themselves become mature together. It was also deducted that an international middle school with a dormitory was the site of acquiring a sense of belonging, altruistic mind, and global competency, where expertise in the subject, as well as professionalism in diverse areas, are required for the teachers.
