‘에너지와 안정성’ 대주제로 한 역량중심 영재교육 프로그램 적용이 초·중학생 영재학생들의 과학과 핵심역량에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 역량중심 영재교육 프로그램 기준(KEDI, 2019)에서 제시하는 교수·학습 자료 개발 절차에 따라 ‘에너지와 안정성’을 대주제로 한 화학영역 역량중심 영재교육 프로그램(조갑룡 외, 2019)을 수정·보완하여 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램이 과학과 핵심역량에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자, 2개의 지역영재교육원의 초·중학교 영재학생 94명에게 초등 6차시, 중학교 8차시를 각각 투입하고 사전·사후 검사를 실시해 효과를 검증하였다. 그 결과, 프로그램 전·후의 과학핵심역량 검사를 실시한 결과, 2개 지역영재교육원의 초·중학교 영재학생들의 과학과 핵심역량 중 과학적 사고력과 과학탐구능력에 유의미한 향상을 볼 수 있었다. 학생의 반응을 중심으로 한 질적 분석 결과에서도 실험과 탐구 중심의 역량중심 영재교육 프로그램이 학생이 스스로 과학지식을 구성하고 실천하는 능동적 학습자가 되고, 자기 주변의 작은 부분도 과학과 연계하여 사고하며 탐구하는 방법을 인지하는 등의 과학적 사고력과 과학적 탐구력의 핵심역량에 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 초·중학생 영재학생들에게 과학과 핵심역량에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 역량 중심 교수·학습 사례로 이를 유용하게 적용할 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This research was developed by modifying and supplementing the chemical domain competency-oriented gifted education program (Cho., et. al.) with the main theme of energy and stability in accordance with the teaching and learning data development procedures presented in the competency-oriented gifted education program (KEDI, 2019). In order to check the impact of the developed program on science and core competencies, 94 elementary and middle school gifted students from two local gifted education centers were assigned 6th elementary and 8th middle schools, respectively, and pre- and post-examinations were conducted to verify their effectiveness. As a result, science and core competency tests before and after the program showed significant improvements in scientific thinking and scientific exploration skills among the science and core competencies of elementary and middle school gifted students at two local gifted education centers. The qualitative analysis centered on the student s response also confirmed that the competency-oriented gifted education program centered on experimentation and exploration has an effect on the core competencies of scientific thinking and scientific exploration such as becoming an active learner who organizes and practices scientific knowledge on its own, and recognizing how to think and explore small parts around it in conjunction with science. These results suggest that it can be usefully applied as a competency-oriented teaching and learning example that positively affects science and core competencies for elementary and middle school gifted students.
