자폐스펙트럼장애 청소년의 장애-비장애 통합오케스트라 참여 경험에 대한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 자폐스펙트럼장애 청소년들이 장애-비장애 ‘통합 오케스트라’ 참여 경험을 통해 어떠한 경험을 하게 되었고 그 경험을 바탕으로 그들의 삶에 어떠한 변화를 가져왔는지 이해하기 위해 질적 연구를 수행한 것이다. 연구 참여자는 크게 두 그룹으로 나뉘는데 첫 번째 그룹은 자폐스펙트럼장애 청소년 12명, 서울시립교향악단 단원 12명, 부모 12명이며 두 번째 그룹은 이 프로젝트를 공동으로 기획한 어린이병원 치료진과 시향 공연사업팀 12명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 이들을 대상으로 개별심층 면담과 참여 관찰을 진행하고 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 3개의 주제가 도출되었다: (1)꿈에 그리던 오케스트라, (2)현실의 벽에서 본 가능성, (3)함께 만든 따뜻한 세상. 도출된 주제를 통하여 자폐스펙트럼장애 청소년들은 꿈과 도전을 갖게 되었으며 정서적 변화와 함께 사회적 소속감, 존중감, 자아정체성 등을 갖게 되었고, 서울시립교향악단 단원들은 개인의 성숙과 함께 소명 의식을 갖게 된 계기가 되었으며, 부모들에게는 세상 밖으로 나아갈 수 있는 희망을 주었다. 이를 토대로 장애-비장애 ‘통합 오케스트라’의 최초 시도를 통해 경험한 시행착오를 검토하고 앞으로의 방향성을 모색하였다.

영문 초록

This qualitative study aimed to understand the life changes of adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), based on the experience participating in a disabled and non-disabled integrated orchestra. The participants of this study were : one group contained 12 adolescents with ASD, 12 members of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and 12 parents and the second group comprised 12 therapeutic staff members of the Seoul Metropolitan Children’s Hospital and the staff of Seoul Philharmonic. Individual in-depth interviews with participants and participant observations were conducted and analyzed. The following three themes emerged from the analysis. : (1) dreaming of orchestra, (2) the possibility seen from the wall of reality, and (3) creating a warm world together. Based on these themes, the adolescent with ASD had dreams and challenges, social connection, self-esteem, and ego-identity along with emotional change. In addition, this experience served as a momentum to members of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra develop personal maturity and the parents, who has the hope to move forward in the world. Based on the result of this study, recommendations were made regarding to effective application of the disabled and non-disabled integrated orchestra.
