외국인 유학생을 위한 대학 글쓰기 교재 분석

국문 초록

내국인 대상의 대학 글쓰기 교재가 창의적 사고 능력, 문제해결 능력의 신장을 목표로 하는 반면 외국인 유학생 대상의 교재들은 언어적 한계를 극복하고 학술적 글쓰기의 규범에 익숙해지는 것을 일차적인 목표로 삼고 있다. 본고에서는 창의성의 개념을 고찰하고 대학 글쓰기에서 요구되는 창의성이 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 그리고 앞선 연구들을 통해 글쓰기의 창의성을 촉발시키고 계발할 수 있는 방법들을 알아본 후, 이를 바탕으로 나름의 분석 기준을 세워 외국인 유학생 대상의 대학 글쓰기 교재에 나타난 창의성 관련 부분을 분석하였다. 교재 분석의 기준은 목표의 설정, 정의적 측면, 확산적 사고의 계발, 문제해결의 과정의 네 가지 범주로 나누었고, 각각의 범주를 다시 8개의 기준으로 구체화하였다. 5개 대학의 8종류의 외국인 유학생 대상 대학 글쓰기 교재를 분석한 결과 한두 권을 제외하면 대부분의 교재들이 학습자의 창의성을 계발하기에는 매우 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 문제를 보완하기 위해 첫째, 외국인 유학생 대상의 글쓰기 교육의 목표를 명확히 설정하고, 학습자가 글쓰기의 필요성과 가치를 인식하도록 해야 한다. 둘째, 학습자의 확산적 사고 능력을 발현할 수 있는 기법들을 보다 적극적으로 활용할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 외국인 유학생들이 대학 글쓰기에 필요한 언어지식을 갖추고 개별적인 담화 목적에 맞는 글을 쓰려면 적어도 두 학기 이상의 순차적이고 연계적인 교육과정 설계가 필요하다는 것이다. 그러나 교육과정이 구체적으로 어떻게 설계되어야 할지, 글쓰기 교육 내용과 관련하여 대학의 담화공동체적 특징을 어떻게 규정해야 할지는 후속 연구를 통하여 보완할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

While the college writing textbooks aimed at enhancing creative thinking ability and problem solving ability for korean students, the textbooks for foreign students are primarily aimed at overcoming linguistic limitations and becoming accustomed to the norms of academic writing. In this thesis, at first we will examine the concept of creativity and then examine what creativity is required in academic writing. The purpose of this study is to analyze the college writing textbooks for foreign students by establishing the analytical criteria that can identify the aspect of creativity development. The criteria of the text analysis were divided into four categories: setting of goals, affective aspect, development of divergent thinking, and problem solving process, and each category was further specified by eight criteria. As a result of analyzing the university writing textbooks for eight textbooks of five universities, most of the textbooks were not enough to develop learner’s creativity(or creative thinking). To complement these problems first, clearly set the goal of writing education for foreign students and let learners recognize the necessity and value of writing. Second, it is necessary to utilize the techniques which can express the learner’s divergent thinking ability more actively. Third, foreign students should have at least 2 semesters of sequential and interdisciplinary curriculum design in order to know the basic language knowledge and to write academic purpose writing. However, how to design the curriculum specifically and how to define the characteristics of academic writing should be supplemented through subsequent research.
