국문 초록

관점에서 보면 역사는 인간의 역사이며 동시에 하나님의 역사다. 함석헌은 고난에 대하여 긍정적인 의미를 부여하면서 고난을 역사의 씨알로서 파악하였다. 그는 한국역사를 고난의 뜻으로 보았다. 그러나 그는 ‘고난은 스스로의 까닭’이라는 범신론과 ‘모든 종교는 하나’라는 범종교론 입장에 빠졌다. 조선 망국은 조선 지도층의 무능과 부패, 외세 의존에서 비롯된다. 그 배후에는 가츠라-대프트(Katsura-Taft) 밀약이 있었다. 조선 말기 국가적 위기상황에서 교회의 비정치화와 영적 대각성운동이 일어났다. 이 모든 것은 하나님의 허용적 섭리였다. 6.25 전쟁은 미소 냉전구도 속에서 김일성이 기습 남침(南侵)한 전쟁이었다. 커밍스가 제시한 남침 유도설은 30년만에 부인되었다. 밝혀진 舊소련 기밀문서는 스탈린 남침 명령을 결정적인 증거로서 제시한다. 이 모든 배후에는 하나님의 섭리가 있었다. 종북 좌파의 남한 미국 식민지론은. 해방 70년 역사를 수치와 패망의 역사로 왜곡하였다. 이는 해방 70년 간 재덤이에서 일어난 한국의 성공과 자랑스런 역사를 부정하는 것이다. 근현대사에 기독교의 기여는 조선왕조 붕괴와 전통종교의 공백에서 민족주의와 만나고 개화의 수단이 된 기독교의 역할에서 찾을 수 있다. 우리 민족이 걸어온 고난의 역사는 이스라엘이 북방의 강대국과 남방의 이집트 사이에는 겪은 고난의 역사와 유비될 수 있다. 그 하나님의 섭리를 헤아리고 그 분의 선하신 뜻에 복종하고 동북아의 평화의 나라와 선교의 나라가 되는 것이 우리 민족에게 주어진 과제다.

영문 초록

From the theological view history is the one of humans and at the same time of God. Seokheon Ham concieved suffering as the seed of history, giving the positive meaning to it. He saw Korean history as the meaning of suffering. He was latterly trapped into the pantheism, saying that “suffering is self-cause” and the pan-religionism, saying that “all religion are one.” The destruction of Chosun dynasty was caused by the impotence and corruption of social leading groups and their dependence on the foreign powers. Behind it was the Katsura-Taft Secret agreement. In the national crisis situation arose the de-politicization of the church and spiritual awakening movement. All this was the permissive providence of God. The 6.25 war was the one that Kim Il sung suddenly attacked the south in the cold war situation of USA and Soviet Union. Bruce Cumming’s theory of causing the North Korea to attack was denied not until the 30 years. The discovered old Soviet documents revealed the Stalins order to advance into the south as the decisive evidence. Behind all that was the divine providence. The pro-north Korean leftists’ claim on ‘the south ist American colony’ misconceived the 70 years of Korea after the liberation as the history of shame and defeat. It denies the history of the success and pride of the South Korea that has rised out of the ashes of Korean war. The contribution of Christianity to the modern history is found in the roles of Christianity that it has encountered with the nationalism and become the instrument of enlightenment in the situation of vacancy of the traditional religions. The history of suffering we have walked in is compared with the history that Israel experienced between northern powers and southern Egypt. It is our national tasks that we have become to realize His provdidence, obeyed His will and become the nation of peace and mission in the north Asia.
