국문 초록

본 연구는 시장 및 기술격변성과 브리콜라주 및 기업성과 간의 인과관계를 분석한다. 아울러 시장 및 기술격변성과 브리콜라주 간의 관계에서 성장단계의 조절효과를 분석한다. 연구변수들에 대한 선행연구 검토를 바탕으로 가설을 설정하였으며, 중소벤처기업 229개를 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 분석 결과, 브리콜라주는 기술격변성과 기업성과 간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 뿐만 아니라 사업 초기 단계에 있는 기업일수록 시장격변성을 높게 인식하면 브리콜라주를 더욱 강화하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 시장 및 기술환경의 급격한 변화 속에서 중소벤처기업이 성과향상을 도모하기 위해서는 브리콜라주의 전략적 활용에 주목해야한다는 점을 보여준다. 또한 가용자원 및 자원획득 가능성이 상대적으로 낮은 초기 단계의 기업일수록 시장격변성을 높게 인식하면 브리콜라주를 더욱 강화하고자 하는 유인을 가진다는 시사점을 제공한다. 마지막으로 연구의 한계점 및 향후 연구를 위한 제언이 논의된다.

영문 초록

This research aims to explore the causal relationship among two types of environmental turbulence, bricolage, and business performance. It also seeks to investigate the moderating effect of growth stage in the link between the environmental turbulence and bricolage. Drawing on literature review regarding key constructs, hypotheses are constructed and tested with data collected from 229 small and medium-sized enterprises in South Korea. Results show that bricolage mediates the association between technological turbulence and performance and growth stage moderates the link between the fast-changing market condition and bricolage. These findings provide empirical evidence that bricolage driven by a turbulent technological environment has a crucial role to play in boosting business performance. The findings also imply that, in such an uncertain market condition, bricolage is of particular effectiveness for relatively early-stage firms to build the resource recombination capability. Implications, limitations and suggestions for future studies are discussed.
