텍스트 네트워크 분석을 이용한 산업 간 연관성에 관한 연구

국문 초록

산업연관표는 일정기간 동안의 산업간 관계를 행렬형식으로 기록한 통계표로 중앙 및 지방정부, 대학 및 연구기관 등에서경제 분석의 기초자료로 다양하게 활용되고 있다. 큰 활용도에 비해 이를 작성하는데 많은 시간과 인력이 요구되어 급변하는 현대 산업구조를 반영하는데 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 이를 보완하기 위해 텍스트 네트워크 분석(Text Network Analysis, TNA)을 이용한 산업간 연관성 모델을 제안한다. 기존 연구는 산업간 연관관계를 분석고자 산업연관표의 생산유발계수표를 통해 전후방연쇄효과(forward-backward linkage) 를 보거나 인접행렬(adjacency matrix)의 네트워크에 대한 고유벡터 중심성(eigenvector centrality)를 구했다. 텍스트네트워크 분석은 텍스트에 출현하는 단어들 간의 관계를 네트워크로 구축 및 분석하는 기법으로 본 연구는 각 산업을 대표하는 키워드의 공출현 행렬을 통해 산업간 연관 관계를 도출했다. 이를 위해 1999년부터 2018년까지 78,830개의 경제 분야 뉴스 기사를 수집하였다. 분석결과, 산업연관표를 이용한 전후방연쇄효과나 고유벡터 중심성 결과와 매우 높은 상관관계(각각 0.855, 0.912)를보였으며, 완전히 일치하지 않더라도 국가 주력산업 선정을 비롯한 실무적 정책 수립에 활용될 수 있다는 시사점을 얻었다. 본 연구는 산업연관표의 한계 보완을 위해 텍스트 데이터의 활용 가능성을 제시했다는 점에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The input-output (I/O) table, a statistical tool to record inter-industry transactions during a certain period in a matrix format, is widely employed in economic analysis. However, despite its wide relevance, the rapidly changing modern industrial structure limits the applicability of the I/O table as its creation entails substantial time and effort. To overcome this limitation, in this study, we provide a cross-industry correlation model between industries using the text network analysis. The correlation between industries is derived using co-occurrence matrices of keywords representing each industry. As data for the study, we utilized 78,830 economic news articles collected for the 1999 to 2018 period. The results of the text network analysis show a very high correlation (0.855 and 0.912, respectively) with the results of the two conventional analysis methods, namely, forward- backward linkage effect and the eigenvector centrality using the I/O table. Although the results are not completely consistent, they offer useful insights and implications that can be used to establish practical policies, including the selection of national flagship industries. The study is significant and contributes to the relevant literature by demonstrating the possibility of utilizing text data to overcome the limitations of the I/O table.
