국문 초록

제품 안전성 문제는 수년간 인류와 함께 공존하고 있는 문제로 아직까지 해결되지 않았고, 디지털시대에 살아가는 현재에도 지속적으로 대두되는 문제이며, 향후에도 우리의 삶과 공존할 것으로 보인다. 기업은 제품결함을 최소화하기 위하여 제품결함에 대한 분류 및 식별 원리, 평가기준 등 시대적 요구사항을 반영할 수 있어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 제품 안전성, 기업의 사회적 책임, 산업별 품질관리보장을 위한 요구사항 등을 통하여 품질 리스크 관리 활용 방안을 제안하고자 사례와 규정을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 결함발생시 그 원인을 규명하여 개선하거나 리콜을 철저히 실시하기 위하여 공급업체로부터 유통, 소비자에 이르기까지의 가치사슬내에서 제품의 식별과 추적성 등 기반활동을 지속적으로 보완해야 한다. 둘째, 결함제품을 설계･제조하거나 수입하지 않도록 공급업체를 포함하여 해당 제품의 품질 리스크 관리를 위한 세부과제를 철저히 수행해야 한다. 셋째, 손해배상의 확대 등 기업의 책임이 확대됨에 따라 제품 안전성을 중시하는 기업문화인 제품안전 경영시스템을 구축하여 품질향상 활동을 강화해야 한다. 제조물 책임의 핵심은 아마도 기업이 제품사양에 대한 기준을 정하고 제품을 출시하는 과정에서 제품결함에 대한 평가를 보다 객관적으로 시행하고, 제품결함을 최소화함으로써 제조물 책임이 이행될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Product safety has always been a priority issue of businesses in today’s digital age and the issue is expected to become even more important in the future. Business firms must search for effective ways to alleviate product quality problems by analyzing the main causes of defects, as well as to reflect the new standards and dynamic customer demands. This study focuses on developing new approaches to meeting the challenges of product safety and quality risk management through an analysis of corporate social responsibility (CSR), industry-specific product safety requirements, related government regulations, and real-world cases. More specifically, this study emphasizes the following: (1) In the event of discovering product defects, the firm should uncover the basic causes of the problem by undertaking a complete review of all activities involved in the supply chain, from suppliers to the end-users; (2) The firm should investigate possible root causes of the product defects and quality issues, from product design to manufacturing processes of suppliers (including outsource firms) and the assembly process of the firm; and (3) The firm should develop a corporate culture which enables an effective product safety management system, as the expanding scope of CSR includes appropriate damage compensation for product defects and quality problems. The core of corporate responsibilities involving product safety and quality risk includes clearly defined product use standards, objective evaluations of defects and quality, and strategies to minimize causes of the problems.
