Evaluation of an Appropriate Technology ODA Project and Its Implications to Indonesia

영문 초록

The role of Korea in public development aid in the international community is increasing, as shown in the 2009 OECD DAC (Development Assistance Committee), the G20 Seoul Summit in 2010, and the Busan World Development Assistance General Assembly in 2011. In particular, the Science and Technology Support Project of the developing countries was started in the 2006 Human Resources Exchange and Cooperation Project and expanded to support the R&D of science and technology. In keeping with this trend, the Korea Invention Promotion Association, in cooperation with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, develops and distributes appropriate technologies extracted from more than 270 million patent information to developing countries. Using patents that have expired, we have been practicing international sharing of intellectual property through the proper technology development and dissemination project to solve the difficulties in life in developing countries and to support income increase. Since 2010, 15 technologies have been developed/distributed in 11 countries so far. Along with this, we have developed 12 brands in 10 countries to increase value-added activities in developing countries. In this paper, we conducted an evaluation study on one of the Indonesian projects with implications to developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region and ODA issues.
