체육고등학교 학생선수 학업-운동 병행 탐색 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 체육고등학교 학생선수의 학업-운동 병행의 양상을 탐색하는 데 있다. 이를 위하 지방 중소도시에 위치한 체육고등학교를 단일사례로 선정하였다. 연구 참여자는 관리자, 일반교사, 체육교사이며 면담, 집단 면담, 문헌 분석으로 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 구성주의 근거이론으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 관리자의 체육에 대한 인식 전환이 학업-운동 병행 프로그램 추진에 결정적인 역할을 했으며, 학생선수의 학업에 대한 인식 전환 및 다양한 진로 설정이 효과로 나타났다. 교사의 과중한 업무, 경제적 여건, 체육에 대한 일반인의 인식 등이 장애물로 보고되었다. 이상의 연구 결과는 체육고등학교 맥락 파악의 필요성, 관리자의 인식 전환의 한계, 학업 재개념화의 필요성으로 재구조화하여 논의하였다. 후속연구로는 학생선수의 학업-운동 병행에 대한 인식 탐색과 전담기관 설치의 필요성 및 방법 마련 탐색을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore aspects of the combination of study and exercise of student-athletes in a physical education high school as a case study. A principal, a vice principal and three teachers working in the physical education high school which is located in A city participated in this study. Three individual interviews, a focus group and document analysis were employed to collect data. The data collected were analysed through the constructivist revision of grounded theory. Four themes emerged from the data: i) the administrators’ perception changes, ii) efforts to improve student-athletes’ academic achievement, iii) impacts on student-athletes, and iv) barriers to the efforts. The findings were further discussed by using three themes: a) a necessity of context of physical education high schools, b) a limitation of administrators’ perception changes, and c) the necessity of reconceptualizing the meaning of study. Drawing on the findings and discussion, implications for undertaking future research on the combination of study and exercise of student-athletes were suggested.
