왕수인 치양지(致良知) 사상에서 본 ‘아동 교육론’

국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 치양지(致良知) 사상을 고찰하여, 아동 교육론에서 인간에게 품부된 양지가 각자의 경험과 실천 속에 성장하며 궁극적으로 ‘체인(體認)된 앎’에 이르는 과정을 연구하는 데 있다. 왕수인의 양지론은 모든 사람에게 가치를 부여하며 가능성을 만들어 주었다. 그 양지는 모든 이들에게 획일성이 아닌 자신의 주체성을 심어주며 성인의 개념을 넓혀 놓았다. 왕수인이 말하는 세계는 바로 실천 철학으로서 자신이 마음과 몸(心身)을 통해 경험한 것을 스스로 해석하는 주관의 세계이기에 체인은 양지의 지극한 실천을 통해 실현되며, 그것은 주위 환경을 고려한 객관자를 포함한 방식으로 이루어진다. 인간의 삶에서 중요한 시기에 이루어지는 아동 교육은 어떠한 경험과 체득의 방식으로 이루어지는지가 중요하다. 이 논문에서는 첫째, 왕수인의 사상에 등장하는 ‘지’ 개념을 분석해보고, 왕수인이 양지를 있는 그대로 완벽하다고 한 부분과 치양지를 언급한 부분을 살펴보았으며, 둘째, 왕수인의 아동 교육론에서 체인 위주의 수업을 통해 주체적 자율적 능동적인 존재로서 양지를 실현하는 것을 살펴보았으며, 셋째, 아동 교육론 속에 아이들의 양지의 실현[致良知]의 장(場)을 적극적으로 만들기 위한 환경과 교사의 역할을 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to contemplate about the thought of Chiyangzhi (致良知) to study about the process in the child education theory, in which the innate “Liangzhi (良知, innate knowledge of the good)” is nurtured through an individual’s experiences and practices to eventually reach the state of “Ti-ren (體認, learned knowledge)”. The theory of Liangzhi by Wang Yangming granted value to each and every person and created possibilities. The theory of Liangzhi (良知) broadened the notion of adulthood by instilling everyone, not with uniformity, but rather with their own independence. As the world that Wang Yangming refers to is the world of subjectivity, in which one interprets one’s own experiences gained through one’s mind and body (心身) as a part of the philosophy of practice. “Ti-ren (體認)” is realized through the utmost practice, and the realization comes in a way that includes the objective in consideration of the surroundings. It is important to consider what kind of experiences and methods of learning compose the child education, as it takes place in one of the crucial periods of one’s life. Therefore, this study has focused on three aspects: First, the study analyzed the notion of “Zhi (知)” in Wang Yangming’s ideas and examined where he referred to “Liangzhi (良知) as being perfect as it is” and where “Chiyangzhi (致良知)” have been mentioned; Second, in the child education theory proposed by Wang Yangming, the study examined the learners’ realization of Liangzhi (良知) as the independent, autonomous, and active beings through the lessons centered around “Ti-ren (體認)”; Finally, in the child education theory, the study looked at the environment and educators’ roles for the active creation of the place (場) for the children’s realization of Liangzhi (良知), in other words, Chiyangzhi (致良知).
