영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to emphasize that learning polysemy systematically in Korean language education contributes directly in developing the learner s Korean vocabulary knowledge and improving effective communication ability. This paper is divided up into four chapters. In chapter 1, I raised the need for teaching vocabulary, especially polysemous words and reviewed advance researches about the Korean polysemy education. And then I present accounts of the aim and the scope of this paper. In chapter 2, I describe the concept of polysemy, the semantic characteristics of polysemous words and the principle of the meaning extension for applying to Korean vocabulary education. In chapter 3, I suggest models of teaching polysemy for intermediate or advanced learner. In chapter 4, I summarize the discussion and present the subjects to be studied.
