결혼이주여성의 사회참여가 생활만족도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

결혼이주여성의 양적증가와 함께 이들의 이주기간이 길어짐에 따라 중년기에 접어든 결혼이주여성의 비중도 높아지는 추세이다. 이에 본 연구는 결혼이주여성의 사회참여가 생활만족도에 미치는 영향의 연령범주별(성인기 대 중년기) 패턴의 차이를 규명하기 위해, 2015년 전국 다문화가족 실태조사를 기반으로 성인기 10,886명과 중년기 3,124명을 포함한 총 14,010명의 결혼이주여성을 대상으로 분석하였다. 분석결과, 사회참여(비공식적, 공식적) 수준의 차이에서 성인기 결혼이주여성은 모국인친구모임 참여가 중년기 결혼이주여성보다 높은 반면 중년기 결혼이주여성은 지역주민모임, 종교활동이 성인기 결혼이주여성에 비해 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 공식적 사회참여로 경제활동을 하고 있는 결혼이주여성은 성인기 결혼이주여성에 비해 중년기 결혼이주여성이 약 20%가량 높은 편이었으며, 최근 우리나라 여성의 경제활동 참여율과 비교해보아도 매우 높은 수준이었다. 회귀분석에서는 성인기 결혼이주여성은 비공식적, 공식적 사회참여 모든 변수가 생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 중년기 결혼이주여성은 통제변수인 월평균 소득만이 생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 유의한 변수로 드러났다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 결혼이주여성의 연령범주에 따른 의미 있는 사회참여를 발견하여 생활만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

As marriage-based female immigrants increase, their local stay is increasing. Accordingly, more and more marriage-based female immigrants are coming into their middle age. So, to verify the differentiation of the age-specific influence (adulthood vs. middle age) that the social participation of those marriage-based female immigrants exert on their satisfaction with their life, this study has performed an analysis on 14,010 marriage-based female immigrants including 10,886 of them in adulthood and 3,124 of them in their middle age, based on the 2015 survey of the multicultural families. The analysis shows that as far as (official or unofficial) social participation is concerned, more of those marriage-based female immigrants in adulthood participated in the meetings of their fellow persons from their native countries than those in their middle age, whereas those in their middle age were more active in the meetings of local residents and religious activities than those in their adulthood. Also, the rate of those marriage -based female immigrants in their middle age who engaged in economic activities through official social participation was about 20% higher than the rate of those in their adulthood, which is a very high level when compared to the latest economic participation rate of South Korean women. The regression analysis showed that for the marriage-based female immigrants in adulthood, all the variables of official or unofficial social participation were significant predictor for life statisfaction, whereas for those in their middle age, the control variable of average monthly income alone significantly influenced life statisfaction. Based on these results, the study suggests a plan to increase the marriage-based female immigrants’ satisfaction with their life by discovering age-specific meaningful social participation.
