국문 초록

이 연구는 가정을 이루어 한국에서 장기 거주하는 아랍계 무슬림 이주 여성의 한국생활을 적응유연성 증진 과정으로 보고 이를 질적으로 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 무슬림으로서 한국 사회에서 안정적으로 가정을 이루어 장기 거주하고 있는 이집트, 튀니지 출신 이주 여성을 참여자로 심층 인터뷰와 참여 관찰을 통해 이들의 한국생활 경험을 탐색하였다. 수집한 자료는 네 개의 주제, 즉 확고한 종교적 믿음에서 안정감과 자신감을 느낌, 우수한 인프라 속에서 생활 기반을 갖춤, 개방성이 주는 자유와 양육의 어려움 사이에서 균형 잡기, 국적 취득, 혹은 국민 되기의 어려움 견디기 등으로 범주화하고 참여자의 적응유연성에 차이를 유발하는 요인을 분석하여 적응유연성을 높이는 방안에 관해 시사점을 도출하였다. 이 연구는 다양한 특질을 지닌 다문화 가정의 독특성에 주목하여 이들에 대한 이해를 넓히고자 하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the process of promoting resilience to life in South Korea among migrant Arab Muslim women. This study conducted an qualitative inquiry into life experiences of migrant women from Egypt and Tunisia that have formed a stable family and have lived in South Korea for many years. Believing that the promotion of resilience would be a valid perspective to interpret their lives in South Korea, the investigator applied it as well. Collected data was put into a constant comparison and analysis and categorized into four topics, which include having stability and self-confidence based on firm religious faith, building a living foundation in the excellent infrastructure, striking balance between freedom derived from openness and difficulties with raising children, and enduring difficulties with acquiring the nationality or becoming a member of South Korean society. The study also analyzed factors causing differences to the resilience of the participants and found implications for plans to increase their resilience. The study is significant in that it focused on the uniqueness of multicultural family with diverse characteristics and promoted broadened understanding.
