국문 초록

전문화는 범죄학에서 이론적으로나 방법론적으로 논란이 있는 주제 중 하나이 다. 이 연구는 전방전문화 계수, 다양성 지수, 항목반응 이론에 근거한 회귀 모형의 3가지 방법을 비교하여 청소년 비행의 전문화에 대해 고찰하는 것이다. 한국 아동·청소년패널조사를 이용하여 청소년 비행의 전문화에 대해 검증하였다. 전방전문화 계수를 이용한 결과는 전문화의 시기별 차이가 있으며 지위 비행의 전문화 성향과 지위/대물 비행의 다면화의 성향을 제시한다. 다양성 지수를 이용한 결과는 비행의 빈도가 증가할수록 다면화의 성향이 나타나며, 청소년의 성장에 따라 다면화의 성향이 감소하고 있음을 제시한다. 항목반응 이론에 근거한 회귀 모형을 이용한 결과는 지위 비행의 전문화 경향과 전문화가 비행을 설명하는 요인이 됨을 제시한다. 비행의 전문화 또는 다면화를 측정하는 3 가지 방법의 분석에 의한 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 청소년의 비행은 전문화 성향과 다면화의 성향이 나타나고 있다. 전문화의 성향은 다면화의 성향보다 높게 나타난 다. 전문화의 성향이 가장 높게 나타나는 범주는 지위 비행이다. 시간의 경과에 따라 전문화의 성향이 증가하며 다면화의 성향은 감소한다. 이 연구는 전문화에 관한 3가지 방법을 비교할 때 항목반응 이론에 근거한 회귀 모형이 전문화를 측정하는 가장 유연한 방법임을 제시한다.

영문 초록

Offending specialization is one of the debatable topics theoretically and methodologically in the criminology. This study examines juvenile offending specialization comparing three methods: the forward specialization coefficient, the diversity index and the regression model based on the item response theory. Three-wave data from the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey are used to test juvenile offending specialization. The results of the forward specialization coefficient method suggest that the offending specialization varies over time; the tendency of offending specialization is found in status offense and the tendency of offending versatility is found in status/property offense. The results of the diversity index method demonstrate that higher frequency of offending leads to higher diversity; the tendency of offending versatility is decreasing over time. The regression model based on the item response theory shows that the highest offending category of specialization is status offense; offending specialization predicts the future offending. The results of overall methods are summarized that the evidence of both offending specialization and versatility is found; the tendency of offending specialization is much stronger than that of offending versatility; the highest offending category of specialization is status offense; the tendency of offending specialization is increasing over time. Comparing three methods for offending specialization, this study suggests that the regression model based on the item response theory is much flexible to measure specialization than other two methods.
