쪽방촌 일대에 거주하는 알코올 의존 노숙인의 생활세계: 총체적 문화기술지 접근을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 쪽방촌 일대에 거주하는 알코올 의존 노숙인의 생활세계에 작동하는 문화적 규범과 규칙이 알코올 의존자의 삶에 미치는 영향을 탐구하고자, 총체적 문화기술지 접근을 통해 중림동 일대 소재해 있는 쪽방촌에서 약 6개월간 현장연구를 진행하였다. 자료 수집을 위해 쪽방촌 일대를 ‘한사랑가족공동체’ 건물을 중심으로 참여관찰을 했으며, 이후에는 관찰 범위를 중림동 일대로 확대하였다. 표면으로 잘 드러나지 않는 문화적 규범과 내용을 파악하기 위해 주요 정보제공자 15명과 보조 정보제공자 16명과 심층 인터뷰를 하였으며, 자료 분석은 Spradley와 권지성이 제시한 방법을 활용하였다. 연구결과 쪽방촌 일대 알코올 의존 노숙인의 생활세계에는 ‘한사랑가족공동체’를 중심으로 형성된 문화 규범과 법칙이 작동되는 세계와 그 바깥 세계의 문화 규범과 법칙이 작동되는 세계로 중층적 구조를 이루고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 알코올 의존 노숙인들은 공동체를 중심으로 형성되고 있는 문화적 규범과 규칙 속에서 각자의 방식으로 살아가고 있었는데, 이는 ‘인생의 종착역: 한사랑가족공동체에 의탁하며 살아가기’, ‘잠시 머무는 정거장: 한사랑가족공동체와 쪽방촌 밖을 바라보며 살아가기’, ‘경계를 넘어: 한사랑가족공동체 조력자로 살아가기’로 범주화할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study is to explore the impact of cultural norms and rules operating among alcohol dependents and homeless living in Jjokbang village. To achieve this purpose, I adopted a totalistic ethnography approach in designing qualitative research. Th e research was conducted in a participatory observation, focusing in the Jjokbang village and the ‘Hansarang Family Community’, which supported for about 6 months in Jjokbang Village located in Jungnim-dong. Aft er various observation, the researcher later expanded the scope of the observation to the area around Jungnim-dong in order to understand cultural norms and rules of the community. Th rough in-depth interviews with 15 main participants and 16 minor informants, the researcher was able to collect data and analyzed them, using the data analysis method presented by Spradley and Kwon Ji-Sung. Th e result showed that the alcohol-dependent and homeless community has double-layer structure with the world regulated by the cultural norms and rules formed around ‘Hansarang Family Center’ and the other governed by cultural norms and rules of the outside. Th e alcohol dependents and homeless living with the cultural norms and rules of the community were grouped into the people who are ‘living in dependence in the Hansarang Family Community’, others looking outside the Hansarang Family Community and Jjokbang Village’, and the last group of people ‘living as an assistant in and outside the Hansarang Family Community’.
