국문 초록

최근 남북관계가 획기적으로 변화하면서 한반도는 평화체제 이행기에 들어서고 있다. 평화체제 이행기는 남북의 적대적인 정전체제를 전환하면서 평화정착을 통한 평화적 통일을 지향하는 과정이다. 이에 평화통일교육의 방향과 체계를 모색해 본다. 평화통일교육은 남북한의 평화적인 공존을 추구하고 통일을 실현하는 데 필요한 평화역량을 기르는 교육이다. 또한 통일교육의 주요 영역인 북한이해, 남북관계, 통일과정의 세 영역을 중심으로 교육내용의 체계를 재정립할 것을 제안했다. 북한 사회의 다양한 현상을 ‘있는 그대로’ 이해하고 남북관계에서 화해와 협력을 지향하는 인식이 필요하다. 그리하여 평화적인 과정을 통하여 통일을 추구하는 역량을 길러나가야 한다. 평화통일교육을 위한 개혁 과제로서 통일안보교육에 대한 재검토, 평화통일에 관한 다양한 콘텐츠 개발을 제안한다. 무엇보다도 통일에 관한 정치사회적 쟁점에 대하여 토론하고 논쟁하면서 합리적인 해결책을 찾아가는 민주시민의 평화역량을 기르는 것이 중요하다.

영문 초록

With the recent, the Korean Peninsula is entering a period of transition of the peaceful Korean regimes. The transition period of the peace regimes can be called the process of seeking peaceful unification through permanent peace settlement. Peaceful unification education is the education that develops the peace capabilities necessary to pursue peaceful coexistence of the two Koreas and realize gradual reunification. Education should be conducted in a way that understands the various phenomena of North Korean society and respects the changing reality of North Korea. We need to recognize that we have experience of reconciliation and cooperation and recognize that we are pursuing peaceful relations. We should develop our ability to seek unification gradually through a peaceful process. As a task of innovation for peaceful unification education, a review of the unification education at the center of unification security should be reviewed and various contents related to peace and unification should be developed. First of all, it is an important task to develop the democratic ability to seek a reasonable solution while discussing and debating political and social issues regarding reunification.
