미용왁싱에 관한 탐색적 동향 연구

국문 초록

아름다움에 대한 관심이 증가되고 삶의 질과 생활수준이 향상되면서 외모관리는 자기표 현의 수단으로 발전되었다. 외모는 자기인식과 함께 인간관계에서도 중요한 요소이다. 그중에서도 신체에 털을 제거하는 제모관리 즉, 왁싱이라는 새로운 미용분야가 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 약 2 만년 전부터 면도용으로 사용한 갈아놓은 돌 등이 고대자료에 기록되어 있는 것으로 보아 제모는 인류 역사와 더불어 시작된 것으로 보인다. 역사적으로 신분을 표시하거나 아름다움을 표현하는 수단으로 활용된 왁싱은 패션의 영향으로 신체 노출이 증가하고 위생과 청결이 강조되는 오늘날 더욱 중요한 사항이다. 또한 과거의 왁싱은 겨드랑이, 팔, 다리 등 단순 노출 때문에 국소적으로 하였지만 오늘 날은 위생과 함께 외모관리와 얼굴의 이미지 변화를 위해 다양한 방법으로 적용되고 수요 하는 연령층이 점차 확대되는 추세이다. 본 논문에서는 미용왁싱에 대하여 체모의 개념, 왁싱(제모)의 정의와 역사, 왁싱의 종류및 프로그램과 기능에 대하여 알아보고 실제로 왁싱을 적용한 분야의 연구들을 살펴보고 미용왁싱이 피부미용과의 연관성을 탐색해보았다. 미용왁싱에 관한 연구들은 왁싱에 대한 인식조사 및 만족도에 대한 연구들이 빈도가 높은 것으로 보아 미용분야에서 왁싱에 대하여 불특정 다수 일반인 및 미용관련 종사자도 인식이 많이 보편화 되어 있지 않아 전문적으로 활발한 연구의 필요성이 있다. 이처럼 본연구가 미용분야에서 미용왁싱으로 다양하게 활용되며 기초를 다지는 데 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

With the increased interest in beauty and the improvement of quality of life and the standard of living, the appearance management has been developed as a means of self-expression. Especially, the new beauty area called waxing which is the removal of body hair gains attention. As the sharpened stones used for shaving are recorded in the ancient data about 20,000 years ago, the hair removal seems to be starting with the human history. Waxing used as a means of showing the status or expressing the beauty in history is more important today when the hygiene and cleanliness are emphasized and the body exposure is increased due to the influence of fashion. In the past, the waxing was applied to local body parts such as armpit, arm, and leg because of simple exposure. Today, however, it is applied in diverse methods for the hygiene, appearance management, and the change of facial image, and the consuming age group is gradually expanding. Regarding the beauty waxing, this paper understood the concept of body hair, definition, and history of waxing(hair removal), and the type, program, and function of waxing, examined the researches in the area actually applying the waxing, and then explored the correlations between beauty waxing and skin beauty. As the researches on the beauty waxing showed the high frequency of researches on the perception and satisfaction of waxing, the perception of waxing in the beauty area has not been much universalized among unspecified individuals and even beauty practicians, so that it would be necessary to have more active and specialized researches. This study is expected to be able to contribute to the foundation for the diverse utilization of beauty waxing in the beauty area.
