듀이의 경험론에 기초한 교수-학습과정의 대안 모색

국문 초록

언어적 설명과 주입으로 시종 일관하는 각급 학교의 교실 현장에 문제의식을 가지고 출발하는 본 연구는 J. Dewey의 경험론의 핵심을 다시 한번 밝혀서 그것을 토대로 효율적인 교수-학습과정의 실제를 재정립해 보고자 하였다. 연구 결과 듀이의 경험적 인식론은 주체와 환경의 교호작용 과정을 통한 인식의 과정으로, 이는 주체의 능동적이면서 지적인 사고 작용 즉 반성적 사고를 통한 과학적임과 동시에 실천적 행위임이 그 근간이었다. 그러면서도 그의 경험론의 핵심인 능동적 경험을 ‘계속성’, ‘반복적 사고’, ‘교호작용’ 등과 함께 강한 ‘총체적 성격’을 갖는 것으로, 평이하게 접근함이 아니라 분리되지 않은 3차원의 통합적 틀로 접근함이 효율적이라는 것이다. 이렇게 볼 때 효율적인 교수-학습과정이 되려면 학습자는 지식형성이나 인식에 있어 제3자가 되어서는 안되며, 인식의 구체적인 주체자가 되어 학습과정에서 언제나 문제 해결에 능동적으로 직접 참여하며 학습자 스스로 그 의미(meaning)를 획득(acquiring)해 가도록 지적인 사고과정(thinking)을 반드시 수반하도록 해야 한다는 것이다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to reperceive educational experience that explains how learning activity which is accomplished in schools attains the best effect. Especially, on the basis of John Dewey’s epistemology, this study intends to acquire effective constructing method of educational experience from it. The current educational problems in our society such as producing passive learners, knowledge-based instruction, limited learning content, ignored student’s interest, ability, or needs etc., tell us that the practice of objectivistic instruction has resulted in failure. It is the time to change our objectivistic view of education. As a consequence of this study, effective educational experience is ; First, learning process must be constructed by practical doing of learner. Second, an interaction between learner’s active experience and environment must be accomplished in real life. Third, reflective thinking must be included to the experience that learner undergoes. Finally, From this perspective, learning is understand as a process of building up structure of experience, active experience-regulated process of constructing inner cognitive conflicts. So, in this paper, It is needed that Dewey’s learning environments should support multiple perspectives: the three dimensional transaction vision on interpretation of reality, knowledge construction, context-rich-continuing, active experience-based activities, reflective thinking.
