중고령 이중돌봄자의 소진에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 50대 이상의 연령그룹에서 노령으로 인한 질환과 장애로 인해 일상생활을 수행하기 어려운 부모세대에 대한 돌봄을 하면서 동시에 손자녀 등 지속적인 돌봄이 요구되는 다른 가족구성원을 동시에 돌보고 있는 중고령층 이중돌봄자(double carer)에 관한 탐색적 연구이다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 중고령 이중돌봄자가 이중돌봄을 수행하면서 겪는 소진(burnout)에 영향을 미치는 요인을 밝혀보는데 목적이 있다. 이중돌봄자는 지속적으로 피돌봄자들을 돌봐야 하는 일을 이중, 삼중으로 해야 하기 때문에 전반적으로 자신을 위한 에너지를 재충전하지 못한 채 소진될 가능성이 높음에도 불구하고, 이에 대한 사회적 관심은 이제까지 없어왔다. 본 연구는 중고령 이중돌봄자의 소진에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고, 이를 완화할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 연구결과, 중고령 이중돌봄자의 소진에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는, 첫째, 조사대상자의 인구학적 특성 중 성별, 연령, 소득계층, 건강상태가 영향을 미쳤으며, 둘째, 피돌봄자의 돌봄관련 상황 요인에서는 피돌봄자가 요양 또는 장애 등급을 받은 경우이거나, 하루종일 집에 있는 경우일수록, 돌봄자가 신체수발 책임을 맡을수록, 경제적 지원을 많이 할수록 소진을 많이 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 사회서비스 이용관련에서는 대도시지역 여부, 긴급한 경우 도움 상담처 인지여부가 영향을 주었다. 위계적 회귀분석 분석결과를 보면, 중고령 이중 돌봄자의 소진에 가장 큰 영향력을 주는 요인군은 돌봄관련 상황요인이었으나, 사회서비스 이용도 중요하게 작용했다. 결론에는 중고령 이중돌봄자를 위한 정책적 제언이 제시되었다.

영문 초록

This study is an exploratory data analysis on the over-fifties double carers who take care of other family members while caring their parent generations who cannot perform daily life activities due to health problems caused by aging and disabilities. In more detail, this study aims to investigate factors that affect emotional burnout that the middle-old aged double carers experience while carrying out double care burden. Though double carers are very likely to be burnt out since they cannot recharge themselves due to their continuous double and triple care burden, no attention has been paid to this issue so far. This study analyzes factors that affect middle-old aged double carers burnout and searches solutions to mitigate it. Following are research findings. First, among study subjects demographic characteristics, gender, age, income bracket and health condition affect middle-old aged double carers burnout. Second, double carers experienced more burnout when care recipients received care or disability grade, care recipients stay at home all day, carers take physical responsibility of care and carers help care recipients financially. Third, whether it is metropolitan area or not or whether they recognize counselling center or not in case of emergency are factors that affect burnout in relation to social service usage. Based on the results of hierarchical regression analysis, factor group that affects middle-old aged double carers burnout the most is care relevant condition factors but social service usage was also important factor. In the concluding part, the study presented policies that support the middle-old aged double carers.
