노인자살 예방 개입을 위한 이야기치료 적용에 따른 사례분석

국문 초록

최근 노인자살률이 급격히 증가하고 있으며 이에 대한 적절한 개입이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 이야기 치료는 여러 가지 상실, 소외, 무가치, 등과 같은 심리정서적 문제를 겪는 노인에게 삶의 이야기 속에서 자신의 강점과 삶의 의미를 발견해 내며 정체성을 확립하고 미래를 볼 수 있는 기회를 제공해 준다. 따라서 본 연구는 이야기치료를 적용하여 자살위험도가 높은 80세 이상의 노인을 대상으로 집단상담을 진행하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 이야기치료의 상담 틀은 개개인이 주어진 질문에 따라 자유롭게 자신의 삶의 의미있는 시간들을 이야기하는 동안 2명의 사회복지사와 상담사는 직접관찰과 과정기록지를 꼼꼼히 기록하였다. 상담에서 얻어진 결과는 참여자 개개인이 자신의 삶의 이야기 속에서 과거에 했던 행동들과 관련된 삶의 가치, 신념, 희 망, 지식 그리고 헌신을 발견함으로서 이를 바탕으로 자아 정체성을 파악할 수 있었다. 결과적으로, 참여자 모두 고통과 외로움으로 인한 자살생각에서 의리있고 가정을 지키며 자녀를 성공적으로 잘 키운 사람으로 자신의 생각을 전환하는 계기가 되었다. 또한 자신의 가치와 헌신을 돌아볼 수 있는 삶의 의미를 느끼고 모든 것을 받아들이며 미래를 살아야 한다는 결과를 얻었 다. 본 연구의 의의는 사회복지실천 현장에서 실천가가 자유롭게 이야기치료를 적용할 수 있는 방법을 제시하는 데 초점을 두었다.

영문 초록

An appropriate intervention to address the sharply increased rate of suicide amongst older people is becoming urgent. Narrative therapy gives opportunity to discover strengths and purpose in life, and see the future among older people suffering from various psychological and emotional problems such as feelings of loss, isolation, or worthlessness. Therefore, this study conducted a group narrative therapy amongst targeted older people at least 80 years old with high risk of suicide. The framework of narrative therapy was questions directed individually followed by open discussion of meaningful times in their lives while a social worker and a therapist directly observing and carefully recording the process. The results of this group counseling is the discovery of sense of worth, faith, hope, knowledge, and commitment latent in the stories of their lives, leading to grasping their self-identity behind this discovery. As a result, it became an opportunity for the participants suffering from suicide due to loneliness and pain to convert their self-identity to loyal, protective and successful parents. Furthermore, individuals felt self-worth and commitment in their lives, and were able to move on with total acceptance. The significance of this study was to present a method that can be applied to narrative therapy practitioners in the social work field.
