쉬바파 아가마와 그 분류체계 고찰

국문 초록

하타요가의 비조인 마쯔엔드라나타나 고락샤나타가 쉬바파의 인물인 점에서 하타요가와 쉬바교의 밀접한 관계를 알 수 있다. 두 사상의 상관성을 이해하기 위해서는 쉬바교 각 지파간의 상호 관계를 파악해야 하며, 이는 쉬바교 문헌 들 사이의 관계를 파악하는 것과 동일한 것이다. 이런 점에서 본 논문은 하타요가 연구의 선결 과제로써 쉬바교의 문헌인 아가마의 분류 체계를 고찰했다. 쉬바교 아가마는 전통적으로 5종, 3종, 64종, pitha로 분류하는 체계가 있다. 아울러 현대 학자인 A, Sanderson의 분류 체계를 소개하였다. 이 체계들은 만달라 도상 에서 차지하는 여신의 중요성 정도에 따라 분류된 것임을 알 수 있다. 여신은 현상의 힘(sakti)을 상징하기 때문에 현상을 강조하는 인도 중세철학의 특징인 탄트라적 조류를 보여주는 것이라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper intends to show the classification systems of the Saiva literuture(Saivagama). Through this study, we can understand the interrelation of not only the minor divisions of Saivism, and also between Saivism and Hathayoga, because Hathayoga is closely connected with Saivism. We know very close relation between Saivism and Hathayoga through the fact that Matsyendranatha and Goraksanatha who are the founders of Hathayoga, are belong to Saivism. In tradition, there are 3kinds, 5kinds, 64kinds, and pitha classification systems of literature belong to Saivism. In addition to the traditional classification systems, we present the classification system of the modern England scholar A. Sanderson. Through this study, we can understand that the Saiva literuture was classfied by the grade of the importance of female-god appeared in Mandala which Saiva used in their rituals. This fact shows the characteristic of tantra that is a distinguishing mark of the thoughts in Indian medieval times.
