국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 <텐트>프로젝트의 상징화 주기를 통하여 아동의 과학적 지식이 어떻게 구성 되는지를 살펴보는 것이다. 연구의 방법은 문화 기술적 연구이며, K 유치원의 만 5세 1학급 아동 25명 (남 14명, 여 11명)을 대상으로 2014년 9월부터 2016년 12월까지 수행하였는데, 참여관찰, 심층면접, 포트폴리오, 교사협의록, 아동 일화기록, 학부모 설문지 등을 통하여 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상징화 주기 활동에서 교사와 개별 및 집단의 상호 조정적 협력을 통하여 과학적 지식이 수정됨으로써 지식이 보다 완전해지고 다양하게 형성되었다. 둘째, 상징화 주기의 순환적 전개를 통하여 가설•검증하고 경험이 축적됨으로써 과학적 지식이 심화되고 확장되었다. 결론적으로 <텐트>프로젝트의 상징화 주기 활동은 아동들이 주도적으로 과학적 지식을 구성하는데 효과적인 교수•학습 활동이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine how young children construct scientific knowledge while doing activities of cycles of symbolization. There were 25 child participants aged 5 years old (14 males, 11 females) from K kindergarten in K city. The study was carried out from September, 2014 to July, 2016. Ethnographic research was used as the study method. Data related with the children’s scientific knowledge and explorative attitudes were collected via participant observation, in-depth interview, record of teacher meeting, record of children’s anecdote and other material. The data collected was then analyzed. The results are as follows. First, more perfect and diverse scientific knowledge was constructed through the cycles of symbolization. Second, more depth and enlarged scientific knowledge were verified hypothesis in the process of the cycles of symbolization. Consequently, cycles of symbolization of project approach can be seen as an effective teaching-learning activity that brought better changes in scientific knowledge construction to scientifically inquire.
