영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to experimentally investigate that periodontal ligament tissue can be formed on hydroxyapatite-coated implant. Hydroxyapatite-coated IMZ implants were placed in contact with the retained root or canine root in the mandible of dogs at 4 weeks after extraction of premolar teeth. After a healing period of 12weeks, the implants with surrounding tissue were removed and specimens obtained were prepared for microscopic examination. Results obtained were as follows: 1. The histologic examination revealed that newly-formed cementum deposited on the implant surface in specimens in which the implants were placed in close contact with the periodontal ligament of adjacent tooth and periodontal ligament tissue with collagen fibers perpendicularly oriented to the implant surface invaded the implant-root interface and the interface between the adjacent implant surface and the surrounding bone to some degree. 2. In some specimens in which the implants were placed into the cementum of an adjacent tooth, periodontal ligament tissue from the root was unable to invade the implant-root interface and the implant seemed to be integrated directly with the cementum of the root. 3. In some specimens in which the implants were placed into the cut-root surface, periodontal ligament tissue invaded the interface between the implant and the cut-root surface. 4. The remaining portions of the implant surfaces which did not have contact with the roots showed osseointegration with the mature lamellar bone. These results suggest that periodontal ligament tissue can be formed on HA-coated implant in areas where the implant was placed in close contact with the periodontal ligament of the root.
