영문 초록

This paper examines impacts of various farm and operator characteristics on the degree of on-farm diversification using farm-level panel data from the period 1998 to 2002. For representation of the degree of on-farm diversification, this paper specifies both a maximum proportion index and Herfindahl index of farms. In the empirical estimation, a two-stage least squares random-effects model is applied to correct endogeneity between farm size and the degree of diversification. The empirical evidence finds that larger farms are more specialized and that farm operator human capital affects the degree of diversification significantly.
