영문 초록

This study serves as the empirical results of the analysis and diagnosis for 50 hog farm business management in Non-San county, Chung-Nam province, Korea. The farm in the survey averaged 156 sows and sold 2,757 hogs per farm in a year. Both of technological and management efficiency including breeding, artificial insemination, feeding program, sanitary control, marketing and capital management, farm recording and accounting etc. were not so good to national average and standard index. However the productivity of top 30 percent of farms in the survey was higher than national or Chung-Nam provincial average farms. Average production cost per marketed hog was 177,134 Won, that was 55 percent lower cost than Japanese average production cost (332,642 Won) per hog in year 2000. Optimum scale of ordinary operating pigs was calculated as about 1,500 heads on the basis of cost curve in short-run period.
