중학교 영재학생과 일반학생의 완벽주의와 대인관계 유능성간의 관계에서 자아정체감의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중학교 영재학생과 일반학생의 완벽주의와 대인관계 유능성 간의 관계에서 자아정체감의 매개효과를 분석하기 위함이다. 이를 위하여 중학교 영재학생 206명, 일반학생 220명 등 총 426명을 대상으로 다차원 완벽주의 척도(Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale: FMPS), 한국형 자아정체감 검사 척도, 한국판 대인관계 유능성 질문지(Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire; ICQ)를 실시하였다. 검사 실시 후, 영재학생과 일반학생의 차이를 검증하기 위하여 각 변인들에 대한 t 검증을 실시하였으며, Baron과 Kenny(1986)가 제안한 3단계 회귀분석을 이용하여 중학교 영재학생 및 일반학생의 완벽주의와 대인관계 유능성 간의 관계에서 자아정체감의 매개효과를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 영재중학생과 일반중학생 간에는 완벽주의, 자아정체감, 대인관계 유능성 모든 면에서 영재중학생이 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 영재중학생은 일반중학생에 비해 적응적 완벽주의 뿐만 아니라 부적응적 완벽주의 또한 높은 것으로 나타난 것이 특징적이었다. 매개효과의 분석에서 영재학생은 적응적 완벽주의가 대인관계에 영향을 미칠 때는 자아정체감이 부분매개 하였고, 부적응적 완벽주의가 대인관계에 영향을 미칠 때는 자아정체감이 완전매개하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 일반학생의 경우에는 적응적 완벽주의가 대인관계에 영향을 미칠 때는 자아정체감이 부분 매개하였으나, 부적응적 완벽주의가 대인관계 영향을 미칠 때는 자아정체감의 매개효과는 없는 것으로 분석되었다. 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 영재학생들을 위한 바람직한 교육과 상담에 대한 시사점을 논의하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between perfectionism and interpersonal skills in gifted and general middle school students and to determine how self-identity has a mediated effect between the two factors. For this study, 206 gifted middle school students and 220 general middle school students, totaling 426 students, were selected as participants. Results of the study demonstrated that gifted middle school students received higher scores in the factors of perfectionism, self-identity, and interpersonal skills than general middle school students. Compared to general middle school students, gifted middle school students also received higher scores in adaptive perfectionism and maladaptive perfectionism. An analysis of the mediated effect revealed that when adaptive perfectionism had an influence on interpersonal skills in gifted middle school students, self-identity had a partial mediated effect. Moreover, when maladaptive perfectionism had an influence on interpersonal skills in gifted middle school students, self-identity had a full mediated effect. On the other hand, in the case of general middle school students, analysis revealed that when adaptive perfectionism had an influence on interpersonal skills, self-identity only had a partial mediated effect; however, when maladaptive perfectionism had an influence on interpersonal skills, self-identity had no mediated effect. It is hoped that based on the results of the aforementioned study, further discussions will take place to determine the implications of this study on appropriate methods of education and counseling for gifted students.
