초등 예비교사들의 초등학교 뜨개질교육에 관한 인식 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등 예비교사들의 초등학교 뜨개질교육에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위하여 G교육대학교 3학년을 대상으로, 2009개정교육과정에 따른 뜨개질교육 내용을 적용한 후 뜨개질용어에 대한 인식, 뜨개질에 대한 효과의 인식, 초등학교 뜨개질교육의 필요성에 대해, 사전·사후 설문조사 및 개방 형설문조사를 실시하였으며, 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 뜨개질용어에 대한 인식은 뜨개질용품과 뜨개질도구를 떠올렸으며, 목도리의 비율이 가장 높았다. 뜨개질에 대한 긍정적 인식은 가족구성원과의 연계, 이웃과 지구촌의 나눔, 선물이 있으며, 부정적 인식은 어려움, 까다로움을 들었고, 여성의 일, 구시대적 활동이라는 편견도 있었다. 둘째, 뜨개질에 대한 효과는 교육 전·후 전체적으로 유의미하게 향상되었고, 특히 뜨개질교육 이전 에는 부족하였던 ‘공간지각력’, ‘과학적·수학적 지능’, ‘의사소통능력 및 협동력’이 더 효과가 있다고 보았다. 셋째, 개인별특성(성별, 전공심화계열별)과 뜨개질 경험, 뜨개질수업의 학업성취도에 따른 뜨개질에 대한 효과의 인식에도 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 여학생은 ‘공간지각력’과 ‘과학적·수학적 지능’이, 남학생은 ‘인내심 및 정서적 발달’에 더 효과가 있다고 보았고, 인문계열은 ‘공간지각력’과 ‘과학적· 수학적 지능’이, 자연계열은 ‘의사소통능력 및 협동력’이 더 효과가 있다고 보았다. 또한 뜨개질 경험이 있는 학생이 뜨개질교육의 효과를 높게 보았고, 뜨개질수업의 학업성취도가 높을수록 뜨개질교 육에 긍정적이었다. 넷째, 초등학교 뜨개질교육의 필요성은 뜨개질교육 전에 비해 교육 후에 더 필요하다고 하였는데, 여학생이, 인문계열이, 뜨개질 경험이 있는 학생이, 뜨개질수업의 학업성취도가 높을수록 뜨개질교 육이 더 필요하다고 하였다. 뜨개질교육이 필요한 이유는 아동의 인내심과 끈기, 집중력 향상, 성취 감을 위해서이며, 초등학교 뜨개질교육을 위해서는 난이도 조절과 시간조절을 제안하였다. 이상의 결과를 통해 볼 때 초등 예비교사들은 뜨개질교육이 단순한 손 기능 습득만 있는 것이 아니라 수학적 지식이나 공간지각력을 키울 수도 있고, 인내심, 끈기, 자아효능감의 향상 등 정서적인 면과 협동심과 의사소통능력의 발달에도 효과가 있다고 인식하였음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 후속연구로 뜨개질교육의 목표에 도달할 수 있는 다양한 교육방법을 비교 분석하는 연구와 초등학생들의 난이도와 시간에 맞게 활용될 수 있는 뜨개질용품의 개발을 위해 초등 학생을 대상으로 하는 연구를 제안한다.

영문 초록

This research aimed to examine prospective teachers perception over knitting education in elementary school, mainly applying survey methods before and after the education to the 3rd year G university students on its validity of the 2009 updated curriculum. The open-ended survey results in the following outcomes: First of all, the knitting terminology reminded the future teachers of such goods for knittings as neckcover, probably attributable to experience of knitting education in elementary and middle school curriculum that they used to follow. Positive perceptions over knitting consist of family association, sharing with neighbors or with global village, or presents, whereas negative ones of difficulty, complexity, or hardship even with prejudice of being a female job or outdated activity. Second, the perception appeared to have changed significantly after knitting education, particularly in space perception, scientific or mathematical intelligence, communication ability or cooperative capacity, in statistical significance. Third, demographical character and knitting experience, or academic achievement leaded to significant difference - in space perception or scientific/mathematical intelligence for female students, patience or emotional development for male students, space perception and scientific and mathematical ability for humanity majoring students, communication or association ability for natural science students. Moreover, the more previous experience a student had, the more effect he or she comes up with after the education. Academic achievement is shown to go with positive impression on the knitting education too. Forth, the level of necessity in knitting education has been improved significantly since the education, especially with students in female group, in humanity majors, with previous experiences, good academic credentials. The strength of the knitting education lies in development of patience, perseverance, concentration, or achievement, being subject to control of difficulty level and amount of time. The above results implied that the knitting education tend to develop not only manual skills but also scientific or mathematical capacity, space perception, patience, perseverance, self-efficacy, cooperative attitude and communication ability. Based upon this research, future research hopefully continues to expand into coverage of comparison of various educational methods or development of several knitting goods in variety of difficulty or time framework for elementary school children.
