중도입국 청소년 상담의 치료적 요인에 대한 탐색 - 내담자의 상담경험을 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중도입국 청소년 내담자를 대상으로 이들의 상담경험을 알아보고, 중도입국 청소년 상담의 치료적 요인에 대하여 탐색하는 것이다. 연구대상은 상담경험이 있는 중도입국 청소년 10명으로 근거이론 방법(Strauss & Corbin, 1998; Cobin & Strauss, 2008)을 적용하여 이들의 심층면접 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과 핵심적인 현상(central phenomenon)으로 ‘미지의 생경한 조력’이 범주로 도출되었고, ‘언어 장벽 속에 심도 있는 표현의 제한’, ‘자기개방의 무게’, ‘상담에 대한 개념 부재’, ‘상담에 대한 선입견’이 하위범주로 도출되었다. 중도입국청소년의 상담경험을 통해 나타난 중도 입국 청소년 상담의 치료적 요인으로는 ‘자연스러운 상담전환’, ‘현실적 대처를 위한 정보 제공’, ‘유연한 상담구조화’, ‘대안적 상담개입 활용’, ‘문화적 감수성’, ‘믿을 수 있는 존재’, ‘동등함으로 공유함’의 범주가 도출되었다. 하위범주로는 ‘재미로 시작’, ‘대화의 공유’, ‘실제적 도움’, ‘능동적인 정보탐색’, ‘실현가능한 목표설정’, ‘상담과정 구체화’, ‘언어적 이해를 촉진함’, ‘가시적인 방법의 적용’, ‘다양성 수용태도’, ‘상담실 밖 활동’, ‘일치성에서 비롯되는 신뢰’, ‘진심이 담긴 공감’, ‘상담자의 자기개방’, ‘다름에도 존중받는 느낌’의 하위범주가 도출되었다. 본 연구는 중도입국청소년 내담자의 경험을 토대로 중도입국청소년 상담경험과 치료적 요인에 대한 구체적인 경험의 내용을 제시함으로써 중도입국청소년 상담모델 구축을 위한 학문적 토대를 마련하였다는 점에서 연구의 고유성을 갖는다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to determine counseling experiences of immigrant youth clients and explore therapeutic factors of immigrant youth counseling. Participants of this study were 10 foreign-born immigrant adolescents with counseling experiences. This study analyzed in-depth interviews of participants by applying grounded theory (Strauss & Corbin, 1998; Corbin & Strauss, 2008). The results of this study determined “unknown and unfamiliar source of assistance” as a category of central phenomenon, and “constraints in providing a depth of expression due to a language barrier,” “burden of self-disclosure,” “lack of understanding of counseling concepts,” and “prejudice on counseling” as subcategories. In addition, “smooth transition to counseling,” “provision of information on practical coping strategies,” “flexible counseling structure,” “utilization of alternative counseling intervention,” “cultural sensitivity,” “presence of a reliable and trustworthy person,” and “share stories as equal beings” are categories of therapeutic factors in immigrant youth counseling that were extracted from immigrant youths’ counseling experiences. Subcategories are “started for fun,” “sharing personal stories,” “Practical assistance,” “active search for information,” “setting realistic goals,” “specification of the counseling process,” “promotion of linguistic understanding,” “application of visual methods,” “accommodative attitude towards diversity,” “activities outside the counseling office,” “trust borne by steadfastness,” “sincere sympathy,” “counselor’s self-disclosure,” and “feeling respected.”
