국문 초록

본 연구는 ‘궁중비화’를 소재로 하고 있는 사극영화의 서사발화와 재현방식의 변화를 분석하여 사극영화의 장르적 관습을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 시대를 대표하는 세 편의 영화 <영원한 제국>, <왕의 남자>, <광해, 왕이 된 남자>를 선정하여 채트먼의 서사이론을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 서사발화에 있어서는 ‘사건’과 ‘시간’에 중점을 둔 서사에서 ‘인물’ 즉 캐릭터에 중점을 둔 서사구조로 변화했다. 이러한 변화는 최근 들어 두 가지 구조의 장점을 흡수하며 서사에 커다란 사건과 매력적인 인물을 동시에 발화시키는 방식의 전환을 통해 좀 더 복잡한 구조를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 한국 사극영화의 이 같은 서사구조의 변화는 시대적 요청에 의해 관객들의 수용형태를 고려한 영화장르의 전략적 변화라 할 수 있다. 영화에서 보이는 재현양식들을 살펴 본 결과 한국 사극영화의 서사는 다양한 담화적 방식을 통해 구체화되었다. 화면비율의 변화에 따라 영화는 영상미학적 발전을 이루었으며, 카메라 연출, 촬영기법의 변화, 감각적이고 세련된 영상미, 그래픽을 활용한 다양한 기술적 요소들은 사극영화의 서사와 이미지의 재현을 사실적 묘사를 통해 관객과 소통하고자 시도하였다. 결국 사극영화에서 보이는 서사와 재현양식의 변화는 역사적 사실성과 영화적 리얼리티를 구체화시키고 강화하기 위한 방식으로 양식체계의 발전을 이루었다. 나아가 변화를 통해 현실정치를 비판하고, 시대가 요구하는 정치적 견해를 작가적 메시지로 재현하며 영화의 예술적 창작기능과 사회적 기능을 발현시켰다

영문 초록

This study tried to focus on the convention in genre, which appears in Korean historical films, through analyzing the process of reappearance and the narrative structure from the historical films based on the ‘secret stories from palaces’. So these three films, , and , which were regarded to represent their own period, were selected and analyzed. And the result showed that the narrative structures have been changed from following the time line or sequence of events into focusing on characters. Later, these two structures were integrated and developed into a more complexed narrative structure with fusing great events and charming characters altogether. These certain changes of narrative structures in Korean historical films could be regarded as a strategic movement concerning acceptance from the audience over time. The narrative structure in historical films shows their materialization through various methods. Through the changes in screen ratio, they show developments in ‘mies-en-sin’, and through technological elements such as, camera directing, recording methods, digital retouching and computer graphics, they materialized the narrative structure and reappearance of images in historical films. So the changes in narrative structures and process of reappearance were developed to strengthen and materialize the reality in films and historical facts. Furthermore, they criticize current politics through these changes and recreate political opinions from our times through artistic messages, and so they revealed the social function and artistic creativity of the films.
