수출에 따른 중견기업 유형별 특성 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 중견기업 약 1568곳을 대상으로 수출 규모 및 수출 여부에 따라 글로벌 강소기업, 수출 유망기업, 수출 초보기업, 내수기업으로 중견기업 유형을 분류하고 각 유형별로 실태 및 특성을 분석하였다. 자료는 중소기업청과 한국중 견기업연합회가 공동으로 실시한 2014년 중견기업 실태조사 데이터를 활용하였다. 분석 결과 국내 중견기업은 수출에 상 당히 의존하는 것으로 나타나 수출의존도가 높은 한국 경제의 모습이 중견기업에서도 그대로 관찰되는 것을 알 수 있었 다. 기업연륜은 수출기업의 경우 내수기업에 비해 긴 것으로 나타났다. 내수기업의 소속그룹 존재비율이 가장 높았으며, 글로벌 강소기업으로 갈수록 소속그룹 존재비율이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 매출규모는 수출규모가 클수록 증가하는 것 으로 나타났으나 매출규모에 차이가 있음에도 불구하고 수출규모 유형별 중견기업 간에 영업이익률의 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 종합해 볼 때 중견기업으로서 매출 증대 및 기업의 수명을 향상 시키는 등의 경쟁력 강화를 위해서 수출이 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 이는 경쟁력 있는 중견기업을 육성하기 위해 고려되어야 할 요소라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the firm profile characteristics (e.g., sales, type of industry, etc.) of mid-sized firms based on export scale by using the survey and financial data of 1,568 mid-sized firms in South Korea. The results show that Korean mid-sized firms considerably rely on export for their growth, which follows the export-dependent structure of the Korean economy. Firms with an export history were found to have a relatively longer firm history than firms without an export history. The results also show that as the export scale of firms increase, the ratio of conglomerate affiliation decrease. Also as the export scale of firms increase, the sales of firms increase. However, no significant difference in operating income ratio was observed. The results indicate that export plays a significant role in the growth of Korean mid-sized firms, a factor which should be considered when building growth strategies. Also, these results imply that not only export scales, but also other characteristics such as the history, conglomerate affiliation, sales, operating income of a firm should be considered in order to make more effective policies.
