교의 해석의 제 문제

국문 초록

이 논문은 가톨릭 교의 해석 원리를 해석학적 관점에서 구명하고자 한다. 먼저 교의 용어의 형성 경위를 짧게 일별한다. 고대 그리스어 교의가 좋게 보이는 것에 대한 견해와 학설, 또는 왕이나 지도자의 칙령이나 규정을 의미하였는데 비해 교회 용어 교의는 가톨릭 교회의 핵심 주제어로서 예수 안에서 하느님에 의해 계시되고 교회에 의하여 이러한 진리라고 신자들이 믿도록 명제에 담겨 제시된 진리를 뜻한다. 다음에 초기 교회의 신학적 사유 활동으로부터 시작하여 교부 및 증세 스콜라 신학을 거쳐 근세 이후 20세기 중엽까지의 신-스콜라 신학 체계를 관통한 전통적 교의 해석 원리를 조명한다. 이 원리는 고ㆍ중세의 정적 우주론적 세계관의 지평 한에서 주-객 도식에 입각하여 형성되었던 고전적 히브라-그리스의 문헌 해석학적 통찰을 원용하는 가운데 계시 진리의 전거인 성경 본문과 성전 자료와 이성적 논증에 의거하여 교의를 불변적 절대 진리로 제시하는 양식으로 성립되었다. 이어서 루터를 위시한 프로테스탄트 측이 복음적 성경 원리의 입장에서, 그리고 계몽주의 사조가 자율적 이성의 요청으로부터 전통적 교의 해석에 가한 비판의 요지를 일별하고 나서 이 입장이 교의의 역사성에 대한 통찰을 결여하고 있다는 사실이 현대 신학계 안에서 결정적 문제로 지적되고 있음을 지적한다. 끝으로, 1960년대 이후 주류 현대 가톨릭 신학 사조로 부상한 ‘구세사적 신학’ 노선 위에서 교의의 역사성파 교의 진리의 위계질서, 그리고 ‘시대의 징표’등에 관한 제2차 바티칸 공의회의 가르침에 입각하여 모색되고 있는 대안적 교의 해석 원리의 해석학적 입장을 정립하고자 시도한다. 여기서 실존-존재론적이고 영향사적 성격을 드러내는 철학자 하이데거-가다머의 해석학적 통찰을 원용하면서 예수 부활 이후 그를 그리스도로 믿고 뒤따르게 된 신앙인들이 교회 역사 안에서 면면히 전승되어 온 그리스도의 복음과 해후하는 가운데 이루어진 체험의 공동체적 진술의 성격을 지니면서 역사 과정 안에서 성령을 통하여 발생할 수 있는 새로운 체험에 열려 있는 역사적 진리로 이해하는 교의 해석 원리의 기본 입장을 간략히 서술한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the principles of Catholic dogma interpretation from the hermeneutic perspectives. At first, the formation process of the word dogma in the Catholic Church is briefly viewed. Whereas the ancient greek dogma had a meanings of any opinion and theory what seems good, or a decree of a king or a ruler, the ecclesiastical word dogma as a central key word of the Catholic Church means a truth that has been revealed in Jesus of Nazareth by God and proposed in a formulation as such by the Catholic Church for belief by the faithful. And then, the traditional principles of the dogma interpretation that were formed from the beginning of the theological reflection over the patristic and medieval scholastic theology to the New-scholastics till the midst of the late 20 century, could be characterized as one which had understood dogma as the unchangeable absolute truth on the bases of the Scriptures and Tradition and rational argumentation in appropriating the classic Hebrew and Greek literature hermeneutic insights that had been formed in a subject-object scheme within the horizon of the ancient-medieval world view. Those principles were criticized adversely by Luther and following Protestants in the name of the sole Scripture principle, and by the enlightenment in the name of the autonomous reason. And the lack of the insight into historicity of dogma has been regarded as the crucial deficit of those traditional principles in the perspective of the present theology. Lastly, a hermeneutic position of a principle of dogma interpretation on the line of 'salvation history theology' is searched as the alternative. This new trend of theology that has emerged as main stream since the last 1960years, has it's ground on the teaching of the second Vatican Council about the historicity of dogma, the hierarchy of dogmas and the sign of time. In borrowing or accommodating Heidegger-Gadamer's hermeneutic insights of existence-ontological and influence-historical characters a basic position of dogma interpretation could be formed in which dogma is to be understood as a historical truth that would be regarded as the expression of the common experience that the Jesus as Christ after his resurrection believing and following faithfuls have made in meeting of His Gospel that has been inherited through the history of the Church. And this historical truth is one which is open to any new experience that would occur through the Holy Ghost in the process of the future history.
