자동동공측정계와 동공측정표를 이용하여 측정한 동공 크기의 비교

국문 초록

목적: 동공 크기 측정에 있어 자동 동공측정계와 동공측정표를 이용하여 얻은 결과를 비교해 보고자 하였다. 대상과 방법: 2013년 8월 1개월 동안 안과에 내원한 60명 환자의 60안을 대상으로 동공측정표(Rosenbaum Card, J.G. Rosenbaum,Cleveland, OH, USA)와 자동 동공측정계(VIPTM-200, Neuroptics Inc., San Clemente, CA, USA)를 이용하여 각기 다른 조도(명소시,박명시, 암소시)에서 동공 크기를 측정하였다. 결과: 명소시에서는 자동 동공측정계가 유의하게 크게 측정되었고 박명시와 암소시에서는 두 방법의 유의한 차이가 없었다. 세 조도모두에서 유의하게 자동 동공측정계가 검사자 간 오차가 적었다. 암소시에서는 동공 크기가 커질수록 동공측정표를 이용하였을 때유의하게 작게 측정되는 경향이 있었다. 결론: 가장 기본적인 동공 크기 측정 방법인 동공측정표와 비교할 때 자동동공측정계는 검사자 간 오차가 적은, 정확도가 높은 결과를보였다. 박명시와 암소시 동공 크기 측정에는 두 기계가 유사한 결과를 보여 동공측정표 역시 수술 전 참고자료로 활용 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

Purpose: To compare the pupil sizes measured using the automatic pupillometer and pupil card. Methods: We measured pupil sizes using a pupil card (Rosenbaum Card, J.G. Rosenbaum, Cleveland, OH, USA) and automated pupillometer (VIPTM-200, Neuroptics Inc., San Clemente, CA, USA) under different luminous intensities in 60 eyes of 60 patients who visited the ophthalmology clinic during August 2013. Results: Under the photopic condition, pupil sizes measured using automated pupillometer were larger than those measured using the pupil card with statistical significance. The 2 techniques were not different under mesopic and scotopic conditions. Under all light conditions, automated pupillometer showed higher inter-rater reliability. Under the scotopic condition, pupil sizes measured using the pupil card were smaller than pupil sizes measured using the pupillometer according to increased pupil size. Conclusions: When compared with pupil card, automated pupillometer provided accurate and reliable measurement with small inter-rater variation and was easy and simple to use. However, based on comparable measurements of both techniques under mesopic and scotopic conditions, the pupil card can be used as preoperative evaluation when considering the cost of purchase and maintenance.
