구매기업의 공급기업관계지향성이 공급기업 통합활동과 운영성과 개선에 미치는 영향:전자, 수송, 기계 산업을 중심으로

국문 초록

구매기업과 공급기업의 전략적 통합 활동은 두 기업의 상호보완성을 최대한 활용하여 경영성과의 개선을 도모하는 전략적협업 활동이다. 이와 같은 전략적 협업 활동은 구매기업과 공급기업의 성과에 모두 유익하다는 것이 선행연구에 의해서입증되었다. 하지만, 이와 같은 공급기업과의 전략적 통합 활동을 활성화시키는 구매기업의 전략적 지향성에 대해서는 국내외를 막론하고 학술적 연구가 매우 부족한 현실이다. 이 연구는 공급기업관계지향성을 구매기업의 전략적 지향성 중의하나로 제안하고, 이러한 지향성이 공급기업과의 전략적 통합 활동을 활성화시키며 나아가 구매기업은 물론 공급기업의 성과를 향상시킨다고 주장한다. 구체적으로 이 연구에서는 공급기업관계지향성은 최고경영층의 공급기업지향성, 내부구성원의 공급기업지식지향성과 장기거래지향성으로 구성되며, 이는 공급기업과의 전략적 통합 활동을 촉진시킨다고 가설을 설정하였다. 또한, 이러한 전략적 지향성은 공급기업과 구매기업의 성과를 모두 향상시킨다는 가설을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 가설 검증을 위해서 한국, 중국, 일본, 대만, 브라질, 독일, 스웨덴, 핀란드, 이탈리아, 스페인, 이스라엘의 총 11개국의 전자, 기계, 수송산업에 속한 총 217개 제조기업으로부터 자료를 수집하였다. 가설 검증 결과, 구매기업의 공급기업 관계지향성은 공급기업 통합 활동과 공급기업의 운영성과 개선에 직접적으로 정(正)의 영향을 미치고, 공급기업 통합 활동의 매개효과를 통해 구매기업의 운영성과 개선에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to propose the buying firm's supplier relationship orientation (hereafter SRO) as a strategic orientation that precedes strategic supplier integration activities,and to examine the effects of the SRO on the supplier’s and buyer’s operational performance improvement. Basing on the theories of the resource based view of the firm, this study proposes that the SRO is a major cultural driver of the buyer’s strategic integration activities with its key suppliers. In turn, this study also posits that the buyer’s SRO could influence the suppliers’operational performance and its own performance improvement directly as well as indirectly.Data from the High Performance Manufacturing Round 4, are utilized for this study. The data represent 217 manufacturing firms in electronics, transportation, and machinery industries,collected from eleven countries. A structural equation modeling is employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The results demonstrate that the positive and significant impact of the buyer's SRO on its integration activities with key suppliers. Moreover, this study also confirms that the buyer’s SRO improves directly the key supplier’s operational performance and its own performance indirectly via the mediating effect of supplier integration activities.
