영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the determinants of multiple victimization and single victimization experience. Currently, multiple victimization is the only available option for the study of repeat victimization. Multiple victimization indicates the intensity of victimization within a limited period. However, it is still unclear that whether the determinants of multiple victimization are really different from the determinants of just one-off victimization. Being a victim of crime is a relatively rare and being a victim more than once is more rarer. Based on the fact that most victimization experiences have excessive 0 frequencies, this study utilizes ZIP(zero-inflated poisson) model. Using 2010 KCVS (Korea Crime Victimization Survey) data, the results show that the determinants of multiple victimization are different from the determinants of single victimization. Gender has a differential effect both on multiple victimization and single victimization. In addition, social incivility only influences on the prevalence of victimization and the opportunity factors such as attractiveness and guardianship(protect) only have a direct effect on the number of victimization experience.
