<석별가>에 나타난 처녀들의 이중 욕망과 철들다의 문제

국문 초록

규방가사는 여성들의 삶과 문학에서 특별한 의미를 지닌다. '규방'이라는 말 자체가 환기하는 것처럼 여성의 공간을 중심으로 창작되고 향수되고 전승되는 가사문학이 바로 규방가사이기 때문이다. 더욱이 규방가사의 창작 및 향수가 현재진행형으로 지속되고 있음을 알려주는 최근의 연구 성과들에 기대볼 때, 전통의 계승이라는 측면에서뿐만 아니라 문학의 다양성 충족이라는 측면에서도 규방가사에 관한 논의가 보다 발전적으로 활성화되기를 바라는 마음이 크다. 이 글에서는 <석별가>를 대상으로 작품에 나타난 처녀들의 생각과 행위를 통해 이중적으로 표출되는 욕망의 양상을 분석하고, 이러한 이중적 욕망이 작품에서 어떻게 조절되고 조정되는지를 살핌으로써 <석별가>가 처녀들의 정체성 형성에 관여하는 측면을 고찰하고자 하였다. <석별가>는 서술의 주체가 처녀로 되어 있어 특히 결혼에 직면한 처녀들의 정서와 상황을 여러 각도에서 조명해볼 수 있었다. 혼례의 절차를 치렀다고 하여 처녀의 정체성이 즉각 바뀌는 것이 아니기에, 혼례 후에도 심정적으로는 여전히 처녀인 주인공이 신행을 맞아 친정집과 이별하며 비로소 여자의 일생을 각성하고 스스로의 처지를 되돌아보는 내용은 처녀의 정체성 확립에 대한 논의를 풀어나갈 단서로 작용할 수 있었으리라 생각한다. 무엇보다 결혼생활에 대한 처녀들의 기대와 환상, 두려움과 고통을 솔직하게 보여주고 있다는 점에서 작품에 내재된 가족과 노동 등의 문제를 좀더 표면화시킬 때 처녀의 욕망을 읽어내기가 쉬울 것이고, 이러한 욕망 표출의 시도와 결을 분석하는 것은 규방가사 논의를 한 단계 진척시킬 지점이 될 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

영문 초록

Kyubang Gasa (the lyrics of the woman's quarters) has special meaning in the life and the literature of the women. As the word 'Kyubang' itself reminds, it is the Kyubang Gasa that is created, enjoyed and transmitted lyric literature around women's space. Moreover, depending on recent research results which show us that the creation and enjoyment are still ongoing, I really expect that discussions on Kyubang Gasa are expansively activated in the aspect of fulfillment of literary diversity and the aspect of succession of tradition as well. In this thesis, I have analyzed the aspects of desires doubly exposed through the thoughts and behaviors in a literary work , and tried to study the aspect that the had a hand in the identity building of young maidens. As the narrator of was a maiden, I could sufficiently examine the matters on the growth and awakening of women, especially, I could review the emotion and situation of girls who are faced with marriage from various angles. Because going through the wedding process does not mean the immediate change of a girl's identity, the contents that the heroine who felt emotionally still unmarried was leaving her home for the trip to marry and looking into her own situation perceiving a woman's life. Besides, because it plainly shows the maidens' expectations, illusions, fears and pains about marital life, it is easy to read their desires when you reveal the issues of family, labor and so on which are inherent in this piece of work. And analyzing the attempt and texture of the exhibition of desires can be a progressive point for the discussions on Kyubang Gasa.
