영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to present aspects of the cancer patients' spirituality; and to contribute toward clarification of the meaning of spirituality through a conceptual analysis process. Method: The method sections provides the defining attributes, case examples, antecedents, consequences, and empirical referents based on the concept analysis methods by Walker and Avant (2011). Results: The attributes contain healing presence, the reciprocal relationship with significant existence, intuitive sense, patient-centeredness, finding meaning and purpose of life, and guiding the patients in strengthening relationships. Antecedents are transcendent awareness, self-awareness, religious affiliation, sensitivity and intentionality, interactive relationship with God, and existential questions regarding the meaning of life, death and suffering, and questions regarding God or higher being. The model case contains all the attributes of spirituality. The borderline case contains some the attributes of spirituality. The contrary case demonstrates none of the critical attributes of spirituality. The invented case contains all of the antecedents and defining attributes in an unrealistic situation. Conclusion: In conclusion, the concept of spirituality is not relatively explicit comparing other physiological concepts. Thus, longitudinal studies assessing the stability, sensitivity and predictive power of these measures over time are required to expand the currently existing concepts.
