국문 초록

컴퓨터 기반 브레인스토밍에서 발생하는 비생산적 의견들은 참가자들의 주의력을 쉽게 분산시키고 같은 형태의 비생산적인 의견들을 유도하는 강한 경향을 보여 왔다. 본 연구는 전문가 참석과 졍크의견 여과를 통한 부정적 보강 환경 하에서 비생산적 의견의 통제 효과를 실험하였다. 실험결과 전문가 참석과 졍크의견 여과 모두 생산 효율성 향상에 긍정적인 결과를 보였다. 본 연구에서 발견된 재미있는 현상중 하나는 부정적 보강이 기존의 학습전문가들이 주장하는 긍정적 보강에 반해 보다 나은 통제효과를 보였다는 점이다. 하지만 부정적 보강을 받은 참가자들은 다른 참가자들에 비해 낮은 만족도를 보였다.

영문 초록

In computer-based idea generation, task-irrelevant comments that often have a negative contagion effect are problematic. Prior studies suggest that such frivolous comments tend to induce the same or similar type of comments, undermining performance norm. Researchers often suggest operant conditioning to avoid or eliminate the process losses that undermine productivity. Accordingly, a negative reinforcement in the form of expert presence and a punishment in the form of real-time junk filtering were introduced as plausible solutions to reduce the occurrence of frivolous comments during the group interaction. As for the former, the result showed that groups in the real-name / expert presence condition performed better than groups in the anonymity (or psuedonymity) / expert presence condition. As for the latter, the result showed that groups in the strong filtering condition outperformed the non-filtering and weakfiltering conditions (including the real-name / expert presence condition). Interestingly, this outcome (at least in the computer-based idea generation environment) is opposite of what most learning experts agree on the more importance of reinforcement over punishment for behavioral performance modification. However, individuals who received stronger evaluative treatments expressed lower satisfaction than individuals who received mild or no evaluative treatments, despite performance enhancement. The implications of these findings for future research, as well as the implications for the design of group idea generation procedures are discussed.
