영문 초록

Purpose: The conduct of this study aimed to identify the paternal child rearing behavior and child rearing stress level of fathers with infant. Method: The subjects were 260 fathers who had infant baby. Collected data were analyzed by x²-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients with SPSS/PC 14.0. The instruments utilized include PSI (Parenting Stress Index) and fathering activity index revised for fathers with infants. Results: 'Play interaction activity' is found to have the highest score in the child rearing behavior categories. 'Child-part' rearing stress is higher than 'father-part' rearing stress. In relation to rearing behavior, there were significant differences among the father's job, marital satisfaction and the number of children. With regard to rearing stress, there were significant differences among the father's job, marital satisfaction and job satisfaction. The study found a significant negative correlation between paternal child rearing behavior and paternal child rearing stress. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that paternal child rearing behavior and paternal child rearing stress could be relevant factor for infant's growth and development. Therefore, it is necessary to develop relevant nursing intervention and provide strategies on improving rearing behavior and alleviating strategies against rearing stress among fathers with infant.
