국문 초록

최근 한국에서는 인종/민족, 문화 등에 있어 다양한 배경을 가진 사람들이 급속하게 증가하고 있어, 바야흐로 한국은 다문화사회로 전환되고 있다. 세계화의 맥락에서 노동과 결혼을 통한 이주민 유입으로 ‘사회통합’은 이제 다문화 논의에 있어 핵심적인 사회쟁점이 된다. 한국은 서구의 다문화사회와 커다란 차이가 있다. 그럼에도 이러한 차이에 대한 깊은 성찰 없이, 피상적으로 서구의 다문화사회 이론과 제도를 받아들이고 교육정책에 반영하고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 북미의 다문화교육(multicultural education)과 유럽의 상호문화교육(intercultural education)을 비교하는 데 있다. 많은 부분 유럽의 상호문화교육을 소개하는데 비중을 두었다. 따라서 이 논문은 북미와 유럽의 다문화 사회로의 진입배경 및 원인, 다문화 교육 정책에서 살펴보고, 이에 따라 서구와 차별화된 한국적 다문화교육 정책의 방향을 모색하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Recently in Korea, people from diverse backgrounds in race/ethnic, culture are increasing rapidly, now Korea has turned into a multicultural society. The influx of foreign workforce and immigration through marriage may be closely related to the formation of multi-cultural discussion in an effort to solve problems for 'social integrity' and it also needs to be understand in the context of globalization. Korea and North American or Europe have formal semblance but have different cause-and-effect in multicultural society. The objectives of this study were to compare Damunwha education between multicultural education in North America and intercultural education of Europe. This paper introduced multicultural education and intercultural education, examined the social condition and the difference in causes of multicultural society in western. So, it is necessary to differentiate the policy of multicultural education according to Korea's traits.
