국문 초록

본 연구는 은퇴자들의 생활방식 및 욕구가 다양해지고 있는 현 상황에서, 은퇴자 집단의 이질적인 특성을 보다 다각적인 차원에서 살펴보기 위한 목적으로 진행되었다. 은퇴생활에 영향을 미치는 다양한 차원을 중심으로 은퇴자들을 유형화하여, 유형 별 특성을 파악하고 삶의 만족도 차이를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 국민노후보장패널(Korean Retirement and Income Study: KReIS) 3차년도(2009년) 개인 및 가구 자료를 활용하여 서울과 광역시에 거주하는 50세 이상 80세 미만의 완전은퇴자 중 가구주 총 592명을 분석대상으로 삼았고 자료의 분석은 SPSS 프로그램과 Latent Gold 프로그램을 활용하였다. 연구의 주요결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 건강, 여가, 경제, 주거, 은퇴, 노후생활인식, 인구통계학적 차원 변수를 활용하여 은퇴자 집단을 유형화 한 결과 ‘총체적 불안형’, ‘샌드위치형’, ‘기본생활형’, ‘고소득 건강관리형’, ‘총체적 안정형’ 총 다섯 집단으로 분류되었다. 둘째, 다섯 유형 별 전반적 삶의 만족도 차이는 ‘총체적 안정형’과 ‘고소득 건강관리형’이 유사한 수준으로 높았으며, 다음으로 ‘기본생활형’, 그 다음으로 ‘샌드위치형’과 ‘총체적 불안형’이 유사한 수준으로 낮게 나타났다. 셋째, ‘총체적 안정형’과 ‘총체적 불안형’은 양극단적인 특성 차이를 보이고 있었다. 삶의 만족도가 가장 높았던 ‘총체적 안정형’의 경우, 비교적 젊은 50-60대의 고학력, 전문직 은퇴자들이 많았으며 부부가구 및 2세대 가구 비율이 높은 유형으로 경제적 상태가 안정적이고 건강상태도 좋았던 반면, 삶의 만족도가 가장 낮았던 ’총체적 불안형’의 경우 1인 가구로 살아가는 저학력, 70대 은퇴자 비율이 높았으며, 단순노무직종 은퇴자들이 많이 분포되어 있었다. 또한 건강상태가 좋지 않으며, 경제적으로도 불안정하여 기본적인 생활을 영위하기 어려운 집단으로 나타났다. 넷째, ‘샌드위치형’의 삶의 만족도 수준은 보통 이하로 신체적 건강이 좋지 못하고 경제적 여건도 풍족하지 못해 ‘총체적 불안형’과 유사한 특성을 보였으나, 성인자녀와 노부모의 부양책임을 함께 지고 있는 은퇴자들의 분포 비율이 높게 나타난 것이 차이점이었다. 다섯째, ‘기본생활형’은 신체적 건강상태가 좋지 않은 편이며 경제적 수준은 다섯 유형 중 중간 수준으로 여유롭지는 않으나 기본적인 생활은 가능한 정도로 나타났다. 여섯째, ‘고소득 건강관리형’은 ‘총체적 안정형’과 인구통계학적 특성이 유사하였지만 건강차원에서는 차이를 보여 질환이 많고 신체적 건강이 좋지 못했다. 본 연구에서는 은퇴자들을 대상으로 체계적인 방법에 의해 유형화를 시도하였고, 유형화함에 있어 은퇴생활과 관련된 다양한 측면을 통합적으로 고려하였다는 데 의의가 있다. 은퇴자 유형화 연구는 실제적으로 예비 은퇴자 및 현 은퇴자들의 은퇴설계 및 노후생활설계, 은퇴교육프로그램 등의 맞춤형 프로그램 구성과 콘텐츠 개발에 유용한 기초적 정보로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the heterogeneous characteristics of retiree groups in more multilateral perspectives under the current circumstance, where the life-style and desire of retirees are being diversified. Based on the various dimensions affecting the life after retirement, the study categorized retirees, identified their characteristics, and analyzed the difference in satisfaction in their lives. For this, a total of 592 householders were selected for analysis from the full retirees aged 50 and over and under 80 who live in Seoul and the metropolitan city, using the personal and household data from the third year Korean Retirement and Income Study (KReIS). SPSS program and Latent Gold program were used for the analysis of data. Using health, leisure, residence, retirement (retirement age, spontaneity etc.), recognition of life in old age, and demographic variables, the retiree groups were categorized into a total of 5 groups: ‘Overall-anxious type‘, ‘Basic-life type’, ‘Overall-stable type’, ‘Sandwich type,’ and ‘High-income healthcare type.’ As for the overall satisfaction with their lives of the 5 types indicated that ‘Overall-stable type’ and ‘High-income healthcare type’ were the highest at a similar level, followed by ‘Basic-life type,’ and ‘Sandwich type’ and ‘Overall-anxious type’ were the lowest at a similar level. This study has implications in that it attempted to categorize retirees in a systematic way, and comprehensively considered various aspects on the life after retirement. The study on the typology of retirees can be practically used as basic and useful data for adopting customized programs and contents development, including retirement design, senior life design and retirement education program for the pre-retirees and actual retirees.
