전통 한지의 일상용품화 방안 연구

국문 초록

현대 산업 사회의 사회적 구조가 점점 복잡해지고 각 개인의 취향과 생활 패턴이 다양화되면서 소비자 취향의 질적 수준이 높 아지고 새로운 욕구가 생겨나고 있다. 특히 20세기 후반 들어 사회적 책임과 환경의식, 수준 높고 개인의 미적 가치를 충족시킬 수 있는 포괄적인 제품을 요구하고 있는 현상이다. 한지는 과거 동아시아 지역에서 오랫동안 일상 생활용품의 재료로 빈번히 사용되어 왔다. 특히 종이로 여러 생활용품을 만들어 사용한 것은 우리나라 문화의 대표적 특징이었다. 그러나 산업화 과정을 겪으면서 한지는 생활용품에서 거의 영역을 잃었고 양지에 밀려 쇠퇴하여 산업화 과정에 적응하지 못하고 그 사용이 미약해져 버렸다. 환경 친화적 소재로서 한지는 목재, 섬유, 가죽 등의 전통 천연재료처럼 현대화하여 개발 이용할 수 있는 가능성이 크다. 근래에 들어 한지는 다시 주목받기 시작하여 새로운 활용 방안이 모색되고 있다. 한지는 닥 섬유의 성질과 제작 방식으로 인한 결합으로 질김과 공기의 흐름, 빛의 산란, 수분 조절, 내구성, 유연함, 부드러운 질감과 색상 표현 등의 우수한 성질을 가진 천연 소재이다. 천연 소재인 한지와 한지 용품은 다품종 소량 생산으로 변화, 개인의 취향이 중시되는 사회, 환경 문제에 직면한 세계와 같은 현재 사회의 흐름 속에서 일상용품의 재료로 전통 한지의 일상화 가능성은 충분하다. 그리고 자연친화적이고 지속가능성의 대안의 일부분으로 적용될 수 있는 가능성도 내재되어 있다. 한지의 우수한 재료적 성질과 미적 성질, 전통적이고 감각적인 성질이 더해진다면 현대 일상용품의 디자인의 수준을 높이고 이를 풍부하게 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

The social structure of modern industrial society has gradually become complex, since the latter half of the 20th century, A new desire for high standard living has been emerged due to the diversity of individuals’ taste and lifestyIe preferences. In addition to the above phenomenon it is required and imperative for everyday products in the global market to be socially responsible and environmentally friendly. These products tend to be highly qualified and aesthetically valued by individuals. Hanji, a Korean traditional paper, has been used widely for everyday commodity for a long period of time in parts of East Asia in the past. In particular, the use of paper material for household and staple goods a typicaI characteristic of Korean culture. But since the modernization, Unlike other natural materials Hanji was not able to be adapted to modern industrial society. Modernization and westernization of Korea has witnessed the decline of Hanji. However, like other natural and traditional natural materials, Hanji has the potential to be developed and used for modernized usage. Recently, Hanji has been gaining attention again and new studies on Hanji have been conducted for new utilization techniques. Hanji is a wonderful natural material known for its toughness, ventilation, light effects, moisture control, flexibility, softness, texture and color variation as a combination of mulberry fibers and manufacturing methods. In conclusion, due to smalI quantity batch production, the importance of individuals’ preferences, and current environmental issues in today’s society, the natural material of traditional Hanji and its products have potential to be used in the daily lives of people and to make everyday consumer goods. There is the potential for factors such as environmentally friendly and sustainability to be applied as alternatives in Hanji products. Teh combination of Hanji’s superior material properties, aesthetic characteristics, traditional and sensible properties can be expected to not only has high level of designs of modern commodities but also, enhances the practical use of Hanji in people’s lives.
