국문 초록

본 논문은 약물의존의 특성에 관해 살펴보고, 약물의존증자를 대상으로 한 교정복지 실천 및 치료 방법에 관해 탐색하는데 목적을 두고 진행되었다. 약물의존은 다른 의존증보다 치료가 어렵고 위험성도 높은 의존증으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 위험성을 알고 있으면서도 약물에 빠지거나, 의존으로부터 벗어나기가 어렵기 때문에 의존증자 본인은 물론 가족 또한 매우 어려운 상황에 놓이게 된다. 약물의존은 단기간에 치료될 수 있는 질병이 아니며, 장기적이고 지속적인 치료적 개입을 통해 인지적, 행동적 변화에 의해 완치할 수 있는 정신행동장애이다. 약물 의존증자를 대상으로 한 치료로는, 약물치료, 개별치료, 집단치료, 가족치료, 자조모임, 치료적 공동체, 인지행동치료 그리고 입원치료 등에 관한 실천방법을 소개하였다. 끝으로 약물의존의 재발방지 및 치료 효과를 높이기 위한 치료 방법으로 (1)치료 대상자에 대한 과학적 분류와 전문적 처우 강화, (2)약물의존 전담요원의 확보 와 약물의존증자 치료에 필요한 지식 및 기술에 대한 전문적 치료교육 및 훈련 (3)전문 치료시설의 개선 및 증설 등을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of drug dependency and to search for correctional welfare practices and its therapeutic methods. Drug dependency has been recognized to be more difficult and challenging to cure than other cases of dependency. While drug users are fully aware of such risks, they repeatedly fall back to the use of drugs and can't escape from this dependency. As a result, drug users and their families are placed in extremely challenging situation. Drug dependency is not cured in a short period of time, but through sustained remedial interventions and behavioral changes, drug dependents can completely recover from it. It is a disease due to drug users’ cognitive and behavioral disability. For drug addicts, I have introduced practical treatments that can be used in correctional welfare institutions and facilities. These are as follows medical therapy, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, narcotics anonymous self-help groups, a remedial therapeutic community, cognitive-behavioral therapy and/or hospitalization. Finally, I have proposed some other measures that can be useful for preventing second offences of drug dependency and for heightening its effectiveness as follows: (1) scientific classification of those dependent on drugs and reinforcing specific treatments, (2) placing agents exclusively trained to assist drug users, and supporting the staff with professional education and training to acquire necessary skills of specific treatments, and (3) improving overall correctional welfare system and establishing more specific treatment facilities, etc.
