영문 초록

Effects of prey conditions on the reproduction, and adult life span of Neoseiulus californicus and N. womersleyi were investigated in the laboratory. The average daily prey consumption and average daily egg production by N. womersleyi adult female were higher than those of N. californicus adult female under ample prey conditions. However, N. californicus was more efficient in converting food energy into egg production. Under different prey deprivation regimes for adult female, N. californicus survived longer than N. womersleyi, and oviposited more than the latter. Adult females of N. californicus and N. womersleyi did feed on conspecific eggs but at a low level. Consequently, N. californicus was concluded to be a more adequate predator for long-term tea red spider mite biological control and integrated mite management in tea plantations than N. womersleyi.
