중국 호텔산업 성과에 영향을 미치는 거시 경제요인에 대한 실증연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 중국호텔산업을 대상으로 거시경제변수들(통화량, 산업생산량, 물가지수, 입국자수)과 중국호텔 주가와의 관계를 실증 분석한 논문이다. 또한 급성 중증호흡기 증후군(SARS)과 같은 비경제적 변수가 호텔주가에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는가를 분석하였다. 벡터 오차수정 모형(VECM)을 이용하여 분석한 결과 4개월 시차를 합산한 값을 기준으로 호텔의 과거 주가, 산업생산량, 물가지수의 변수는 호텔 주가에 정의 효과를 미친 반면 통화량과 입국자수의 변하는 부의 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 또한 충격반응함수를 분석한 결과 통화량과 소비자 물가지수는 호텔의 주가에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타난 반면 산업생산량과 입국자 수의 변화가 주가에 미치는 영향은 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 SARS 발병으로 인한 변화를 분석한 결과 입국자 수 감소에는 일시적이고 미미한 부의 영향을 미친 반면 호텔주가에는 지속적이고 유의한 부의 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study examined the impacts of some macroeconomic factors on Chinese hotel stock returns empirically. A major focus was on the short-term and long-term relationship between macroeconomic variables(i.e., money supply, the growth rate of industrial production, expected inflation, growth rate of total foreign tourist arrivals) and Chinese hotel stock returns. In addition, this study also investigated the impacts of non-macroeconomic variable such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(SARS) on Chinese hotel stock returns. The Vector Error Correction Model(VECM) analysis indicated that the growth rate of industrial production and the growth rate of industrial production affected the hotel stock returns positively. On the other hand money supply and growth rate of total foreign tourist arrivals affect hotel stock returns negatively. The empirical results from regression analysis show that the outbreak of SARS severely reduced growth rate of total foreign tourist arrivals and hotel stock returns. But the impacts are different in two variables. Total foreign tourist arrivals has recovered very quickly but hotel stock returns has depressed little long time. The implication of this study may be used as information for investors who are interested in the hospitality industry in China.
